I heard that she will be running for University of New Mexico.. can anybody confirm this?

They all come from the the same training group - Twell, Purdue, Pallamt, etc etc. run great as juniors then struggle to progress further in seniors. They aren't bad runners as seniors just don't improve much on the times they ran as juniors (and have lots of injuries).

Personally I wouldn't want to follow their model it if they enjoy it then no problem!

It was world JUNIOR, not YOUTH (different age group).

Yes lots people in the training group (100+) at AFD, and the younger girls do seem to run well - high volume of pretty fast "intervals" seems to be the recipe here.

Jessica Judd (2.01 800m) isn't part of that group and may have a better upside (she ran 9.08 in a mixed race last year as a YOUTH) as she was 3rd at World Youth last year behind Ajee Wilson in the 800m.

Range for Judd - 56, 2.01, 4.14, 9.08 (400-3000m).

I can't find it anywhere but the guy who wrote it went for a run with their group and he talks about their training. 6 minute miles for warm ups and crazy stuff like that.

I see she is entered in the 5k tonight. Bit silly having the 3k and 5k on the first 2 days.

The most amazing part is that the Brits have broken the train of girls leaving for the US University system. The vast majority are staying put these days and not coming to the states. Good Aussies and Kiwis and Irish girls are still interested, but the Brits system is working against the lure of the NCAA.

Mary Akor is originally from Nigeria, and she has run the US OT marathon.

I hope she goes to the NCAAs!

I don't. We have plenty of Americans looking to be developed without trolling the world for ringers to pollute our amateur environment here in the States. Leave these non-US runners right where they belong, in their home countries. The American amateur college running scene is in shambles because of the unethical impost of runners, of indeterminate age, from overseas. It is even, unbelievably, spilling over to the high school scene (Haile -----, a few years ago; Cheserek, now, etc,). American track and field should be for American amateur runners. Period. At the pro level,let whomever wants to compete here in events open to the rest of the world. But, our amateur scene, keep the impostors out.

She didn't run the 5k.

Why not expose other cultures to our educational system, and just as importantly, expose our culture to other cultures?

The Nigerian ran 18 minutes. Sub 16 PR though.

There was some shambles with the visas.

what i find more interesting is that you call this 3rd place finisher a phenom and no mention of the 2 others who tore her another. what were they god?

No they were African so no biggie. Young Africans run fast all the time. Young white girls do not run 9:09 very often.

The chicks that run the 5,000 today run the last 3,000 9:01. oops and i believe the american run well and was 18 seconds behind.
