I think part of the problem is that none of us trained right. We basically ran 4-8 miles a day, 5 days a week. Each day we tried to beat each other. No simple running. I ran about 30-40 miles per week.
You ran sub 6 minute miles for 3 miles, you have talent. You may not have as much as the guy who ran sub 5 without ever having ran before or as much as Rupp but you have talent. Runners are strange sometimes, espescially on this site. I don't know if it is the stigma that comes from things like 26.2 stickers but pretty much everyone on this site is talented and much, much better than the general population. Not just anyone can run a 5 minute mile no matter how well you trained and from what age, similar to how not everyone can bench press 300 pounds no matter how well you trained or not everyone can rub a sub 11.50 100.
