I met Ryan earlier this year after a indoor 5k. Did not chat w/ him much but seemed like a super nice guy. This really made me think about all the dumb stuff that I have done during college and also the stupid things friends have done. Keep fighting Ryan you have more people than ever cheering for you. |

I'm cheering, too. Hope for a speedy and full recovery. |

I'm certainly not here to criticize this young man and hope he recovers. However, as a former WSC runner, I think it would be a great idea for every incoming athlete to be told the story of Brendan St. Denis. |

Best of luck to the young man. If there a type of human being that can beat this, it has to be a steepler. |

Brendan ran for WSC from 2000 until his death in August 2001. He got drunk at a birthday party at a lake and decided to dive into the lake from a high bridge. Never came back up. It took a week for his body to be found. The team was devastated and the college was very embarrassed by the incident. [/quote] |

On the ESPN body issue site it stated that one of the women's VB players was in an accident in Brazil, in a coma for 3 days, and returned to play 9 months later. It gave me hope that Ryan will pull through. |

No quarrel here with what you're saying, Rojo. By the same taken, however, if you're a high school or college coach and not finding an opportunity here to talk to your kids about making good decisions about drugs and alcohol, you're kidding yourself about the direction these kids need in life. Alcohol is a game changer. |

Climbing onto the roof of a three-story building is generally a bad idea in any state of mind. |

Can any of the people close to Ryan provide an update on his condition. |

EEG is showing brain activity. He has had a few surgeries in the past few days....facial....tube in stomach so he can eat. All of the "critical numbers", are good. As they have written on his caring bridge wall, "it's an hour by hour deal". Still in stable but critical condition. |

Nothing terrible new to report. He's getting a new brain scan..(EEG..sp?) today I believe. There are parts of brain that definitely show signs of traumatic injury, but overall he has activity throughout most. |

*Terribly Poor choice of words on my part. My apologies. If any of you has written on his caring bridge wall - thanks. I know his family and enjoyed reading all of the entries. |
