Do elites ever collapse on the ground after a race? They always seem to be fine after a race, like they were only going for a walk in the park.

I saw a few go down after their races at the trials.
El Guerrouj after winning his first Olympic gold, though really he got down to pray, then kind of rolled over.

There was a good picture similar to the last one with what looked like it might be the entire Beijing 1500m final on the ground, but I wasn't able to locate it.
I think sometimes it's a matter of the type of race they ran. The typical, championship, slow tactical, sit and kick race prolly won't take a lot out of an elite. But, if it's a fast race from the start, who knows?
Salazar was given last rites at the 1978 Falmouth race
Yuki Kawauchi says he is willing to die in every marathon effort and most often will collapse at each finish
many, many others
Bolt was down for the count and obviously in a lot of pain after his 200m wr.
I'm not sure if Ritz has ever finished a race and stayed on his feet
