Bekele does not concern himself with Rupp at all and if you think differently you are an idiot.
Quiet is good, particularly in a library.
List of things KB thinks about:
1. His next workout/race
2. Pounding his wife.
..................
10. Mo Farah
11. Kenyans
12. Bernard Lagat
................
100. That fast white boy in Oregon.

This ^ is dead on.
Also, there is about a 0.001% chance of Bekele going sub 12:50 this race.
Has Bekele really not broken 13:00 since 2009? IAAF doesn't list any 5ks for 2010 or 2011.
Yeah, I believe bekele was injured which explains his hiatus from the 5k scene for 2 years. They were saying how the world championship 10k in daegu was his first race in 2 years.
Anywho, he has run two 13 flat 5ks this year. He always seems to shoot himself in the foot though. Each race this year, he's gone out under 29 seconds his first 200. I guess he just thinks he's his old self... but not quite there. Who knows what this last month of training has done to him, but 12:50 is pretty unbeatable at the moment.
He could be close but probably low 12:50s as I doubt the race is intended to be paced at sub 12:50 pace and he is not trying to prove anything to Rupp. Bekele is focusing on getting healthy and fit right now not some guy who has a 5k pr 21 seconds slower than him. He might be worried about Mo but he is probably just focusing on himself without getting too worried up about the competition. He is experienced and knows that being at 100% is more important than sweating over what could happen.

He didn't race for all of 2010 due to injury, and he ran a total of 2 10k races for 2011

True. He hasn't broken 12:50 since 2007. Season bests of 12:52 is 2009 and 12:50 in 2008. So chances he breaks 12:50--very very low.

Exactly.
And it is Rupp and Salazar and Farah's any anyone else's job to make him concerned.
Rupp's taken the Kenster's scalp once, but until someone does it in an Olympics, he's still the favorite.
5,000 is not Rupp's specialty anyway, so kind of a fail as a thread starter.

Absolutely! Imagine a world class distance runner being knowledgeable about his competition!

He wasn't starting a thread, so kind of a fail as an evaluation of his post.

Firstly, Bekele is still one of, if not the man to beat from a 3000 - 10000.
That said, there are two white boys from Oregon who have given him a scare more than once late in the race. Dathan put on a strong chase in his 12:56 and Rupp beat him at Pre. While we all know Bekele was less than his best at Pre, Rupp looked fairly flat and certainly improved at the trials.
Bekele may not be trembling over Rupp, but he'd be a damned fool not to be giving him and his coach some degree of respect right now.
Do people really think Rupp and Mo can't go 12:50 right now? Ritz is probably back to his 12:56 form if not better and he's the 3rd man in the group currently.
12:50 might sound shocking to some of you still but I'm pretty sure Salazar's group isn't going to be intimidated by anyone going 12:50 right now. Even if he runs 12:40, he'll still have to show up and beat Mo, Galen and Bernard in London.
k. bekele probably rightfully feels, if i am running well i will win, he is not thinking of a way to say FU to rupp, he knows who rupp is, but i doubt rupp is on his mind right now. if bekele is not at his best he has some tough runners to race tomorrow and he is probably thinking about that, not about rupp.
He won't break 12:50. He'll break 13 though, for sure. Probably wins the race. Bekele is gonna be BOSS come August.
Quite possible Bekele runs something like 12:53-4 and gets 2nd or 3rd place. Just sayin'.

Cept' his wife is dead....
No that was his first wife. Have you SEEN his current wife ?!?!?! Gott dayum!!!! I would move pounding his wife up to #1.
Beyond that, I can guarantee Bekele knows who Rupp is. After all, he trains with the current world champion in 5000m and silver medalist in 10,000m. Plus, As mentioned, Rupp DID beat Bekele at Pre. Having said that, I dint think Bekele is necesarily worried about Rupp, but he knows who Rupp is.
No he will not go sub 12:50.
Even if he does, it will have nothing to do with Rupp.
Hey "A Duck" are you somehow related to Rupp? Maybe Rupp himself? Please explain.
Meanwhile I wait for the Olympics.
