Anybody catch Tarmoh's ESPN studio interview? I'm not sure if she and Allyson are going to be training partners for much longer. Tarmoh said she spoke to Allyson personally about the situation and said (and I quote) "If you were declared the winner initially instead of me, I dont believe the decision would've been reversed" Im calling her departure from the Kersee camp later on this year. |

If she leaves, she might as well retire. She'll never do better (unless Block is taking new clients...) Even if she is right that Felix got preferential star treatment, she earned that status. Tarmoh had a chance to take a step in the direction of making her own stardom, and she blew it. |

She's not blaming Felix. Just stating that the referee may not have called it the same. That's just hurt feelings. The fact remains that the photo shows a dead heat. It isn't Felix's fault and she knows it. It's the system |

she is just stating a truism. |

Bobby is old school. Quitters are about as likely to go over with him as they would have been with Vince Lombardi. Runoff not Tarmoh-certified. |

Kersee was very insistent when he was interviewed that while he wouldn't be a part of the decision-making process, they were not going to do a run-off. |

A total lack of competitive spirit from tarmoh. What a joke. |

I feel sorry for her. She was declared the winner, given a medal, took a victory lap and then told "never mind". No! this is wrong. If she has been dq'd or something after the fact due to watching a tape that is one thing. But to do this is completely wrong and unethical. Felix should have been the one to graciously decline. |

She could be through- out of the Kersee camp out of her shoe contract. Who else would pick her up? |

This post is true. Felix is a jerk for the way she handled this. All this talk about Tarmoh not being competitive is stupid. You were not in this situation so you can't blame her for her response. Neither Felix or Tarmoh would medal in the 100 anyway so unless its about money, its pointless.

A true competitor would fight for that spot. Felix was giving her a chance to prove it on the track and she ran scared. |

So you're saying that they shouldn't have called it a tie (which it was according to the photo) because it would hurt Tarmoh's feelings? What would've been wrong is if they just said "forget it" and not bothered to check. Tarmoh was given a golden opportunity to compete for a spot on the Olympic 100m team and she declined it because she wasn't done bitching and moaning over the whole process. |

Tarmoh made the right decision, after being declared winner and then have this changed to a tie is wrong. She is right in saying it wouldn't have been overturned if Felix was declared winner. She shouln't have to prove herself twice, she won the original race. Stand up for yourself and keep training hard you will be rewarded and the world will see you, people like you will never fail and your conscience is super clear. |

What sport are you watching? When new information comes in that change the UNOFFICIAL results, it changes the outcome. Felix did not do anything wrong!!! She has no obligation to be gracious. Funny...you understand the "after watching the tape" concept about changing the results, but you can't bring yourself to apply it properly here because you feel sorry for Tarmoh. Again, what sport are you watching!???! |

Said this in another thread.... but she just pulled out of a CNN interview, seconds before it was about to begin. They were hyping the interview all morning and now... nothing! |

What? You can "earn" a 1/100 bump in your 100 time? Someone tell Yohan Blake! |

I don't see how this is so hard for you to get. Think about it this way. In four years, Rupp is going for the 5000/10,000 double at trials. At this point, he has been to multiple Olympics and world championships and competed all over the circuit. He knows his way around a USATF nationals in his sleep. The 10 is his better event of the two; if anything, his best success has been in the half and full marathon distance. He is all about strength. You are also doubling in the 5000/10,000, although your better of the two is definitely in the 5000. You are more speed-based; 3000 would actually be your best event. You are You are at your first Trials meet ever. You place third in the 5000, and are told you are on the Olympic team. You take a victory lap, do a press conference...OK, you know the rest of the story: turns out it was a tie! Crazy! Later in the meet, you get trounced by Rupp in the 10,000. Now he's on the team. You're not. USATF decides it would be a fun idea for you to have a run-off. SOUND FAIR? |
