RUDISHA TO RUN 1:40.88 in PARIS 7/3/2012 3:49PM Reply | Return to Index | Report Post
http://www.standardmedia.co.ke/?articleID=2000061115&story_title=Athletes-set-for-record-race-in-Paris

In the article above, Rudisha and his pacer Sammy Tangui are quoted as going for a world record on Saturday in Paris. If the weather conditions allow, I predict he will run 1:40.88 then lower it in Rieti after the London Olympics. What are ya'll time prediction?

Nice prediction. Very specific.

If you are right (exactly right) then you will be the unquestioned King of LetsRun for at least one month.

1:42.4 he peaked too early. Probably won't win at Olympics either.

"Peaking too early" is part of American-Born Distance Runner Syndrome. (Along with chronic DNSing and DNFing.)

Amazingly, most of the world's elite (Bolt, Blake, Rudisha, Koech, Bekele in his time) manage to post fast times from May to August year after year.

Now the question is: Can Muhammed AMan finally break 1:43? My prediction: I say NO! He will run 1:43.64. He has the ability to break 1:43 but he will go after Rudisha as usual only to shoot himself in the foot the last 100m.

This is true Americans have some weird vision of peaking that in our minds states we can only run our fastest in one, one week periods in the season and after that week we are done. Everybody else in the world thinks you have a 6-8 week period where you can be at your best or close to your best.

I think Fluffy should consume said beers in whatever time Rudi runs the 800m in. Seems only fair.
