It now looks as if US law enforcement agencies are now acquiring Dodge Chargers to replaced ageing Crown Victoria’s. Below is the new police car you will be seeing on the side of the road or unfortunately sometimes in your rearview mirror. http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-dmzoqu_cV88/TzroLO-o7zI/AAAAAAAAAZ0/dgBWcKuCbbU/s1600/dodge_charger_police.jpg&imgrefurl=http://blogautoparts.blogspot.com/2012/02/dodge-charger-police-vehicles-recalled.html&h=273&w=450&sz=22&tbnid=w-92e1VfPWfcrM:&tbnh=73&tbnw=120&zoom=1&usg=__eD_tmzKCGh8wuxHstl9uEbVqUS8=&docid=tHcq7hcBK1ajzM&hl=en&sa=X&ei=2xTvT6_wHsLx0gGi0vH6Ag&ved=0CH4Q9QEwAg&dur=1 |

Not in the upper midwest. Most have ordered, and are now on the roads the new Ford Taurus Police Interceptor- The charger is one ugly vehicle- par for the course for Chrysler. The Taurus- not too bad. |

The new chargers look much better. |

Butch, yes. But like most American cars a complete piece of crap when compared to either Japan or Europe, What's the top speed, 130mph? |

blah. 2 very unexiting choices. Would rank the taurus higher but that might not be saying much. No offense, but Chrysler and Dodge suck. Crappy cars, crappy service, crappy quality- so many better options with other makes. |

We've had these in New York for over a year |

The new Chrysler's are at a higher quality than the other domestic cars. The Challenger and Charger are beautiful. BTW, did you know the Cadillac CTS-V is the world record holder on the Nuremburg road coarse. Of course, that car would be too expensive for the police forces around the country. Without a speed governor the CTS-v will do 180mph. There are some very good American cars. However, there has been some foreign help. The Taurus just does not look like a Police car. The charger looks born for the role. I still wonder why some police forces are using generic Impalas. The Impala's platform goes back to the original GM-10 or W body cars from the late 80s. With a 3.9l V6 the Impala is reasonably powerful, but it does not have a V8! |

In my part of NY we've had them for a lot longer than that. |

We've had them in Massachusetts for awhile too. The state is slowly phasing them in; right now you usually only see the top dogs with them. Though some local town police forces have managed to nab them. |

I am glad the Charger has gotten rid of the hump just under the rear window. GM is trying to market the Australian Holden Caprice as a potential police vehicle. However, I don't think either the unions or the patriotic police forces want to drive an Australian police cruiser. This car was once the Pontaic G6, which got great reviews, but disappeared along with Pontiac. I think Chrysler has caught both Ford and GM sleeping at the wheel when it has come to marketing the latest police cruisers. You probably won't see any Taurus police cars on the entire east coast. The Impala's seem to be popular with park rangers. |

I cant think of any redeeming vehicle Chryler or Dodge make. Not one. Total pieces of crap , inferior in almost any way to imports and Ford vehicles. |

Ha Ha, Im not sure others noticed the link- its about the charger police models being recalled. As a former Chrysler, and Dodge owner- I am well aware of the small, and big recalls. After foolishly getting rid of the local dealer(and only reason I ever considered their product) I am now a much happier vehicle owner- of a Ford. Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep- NEVER AGAIN. |

Ford cars seem rather ordinary to me. They lack styling imagination. In many ways they are like Toyotas minus the reliability. Foolish management has cost Ford its market on future police cruisers. The Taurus simply is not a police car. Even the Impala is replacing the Crown Vic as a police car, which is the ultimate insult!! Still, it looks as if the Charger has won the hearts of law inforcement. |
