Let's celebrate and appreciate Kim Conley, she's clearly the smarter and better runner...and an Olympian! 3 Kim Conley New Balance/SRA Elite 36.00 (1) 36.00 1:52.05 (2) 1:16.05 3:07.44 (2) 1:15.40 4:21.97 (1) 1:14.53 5:36.38 (2) 1:14.42 6:49.96 (1) 1:13.58 8:06.51 (2) 1:16.55 9:23.14 (3) 1:16.64 10:36.58 (2) 1:13.44 11:49.42 (4) 1:12.85 12:59.52 (4) 1:10.10 14:11.02 (5) 1:11.51 15:19.79 (3) 1:08.78 4 Julia Lucas Nike / Oregon TC Elite 36.95 (11) 36.95 1:52.94 (6) 1:16.00 3:07.60 (4) 1:14.67 4:22.50 (4) 1:14.90 5:36.90 (6) 1:14.41 6:50.79 (6) 1:13.89 8:06.83 (6) 1:16.04 9:23.45 (7) 1:16.62 10:36.75 (4) 1:13.31 11:48.65 (1) 1:11.90 12:57.59 (1) 1:08.95 14:06.04 (1) 1:08.45 15:19.83 (4) 1:13.80 |

No reason to disparage Lucas who still ran well. But yes, Kim's execution was pretty damn flawless. The discipline and ownership she's shown in her preparation the past few years has been exemplary. It was great to see her put it all together last night. Hopefully her performance will inspire her HS team mate in the steeple tonight. |

Kim is an Olympian because Julia gave it to her. Shes OK, just really lucky. |

HC claims I am disparaging Lucas by posting the splits and reminding everyone who is the Olympian and then along comes Eugenian to tell us that the months and years of training and preparation didn't matter for Conley, she didn't earn it, it was given to her. Can I disparage all the coaches involved in the "training" of Lucas? All those that never taught her how to run? It's painful to watch her jamming her toes and braking every time she lands. In comparison, Conley is poetry in motion. Rewatch last night's race or any other event where the two have run. |

Jesus H. Christ, can you people refrain for once from turning something exhilarating and poignant into an insult contest? You kids are like apes in trees flinging feces at one another. |

No. Kim is an Olympian because NO one gave it to her. She earned it. And she earned it THE HARD WAY. In fact, she earned it the hardest way; having to not only come in top 3 but still needing the standard. Talk about pressure. Unbelievable grace under pressure. Well executed. Julia Lucas in her exit interview seemed like she thought she was a shoe-in. Almost like she was entitled to the spot-like it was already decided. And when she stated in this interview that it is a "cutthroat sport" I wondered who she was directing this at? Surely not Kim C who earned it fair and square and with all her might and heart. Surely not. |
