If he dips under 1:43 he'll medal.

Definitely. 800 is a weird race, a 1:43.xx might be enough, and he's capable of that. I don't know how the hell you strategize all those races, though. No margin for error.

No. He probably has a little shot for Bronze.

Anyways, with that stacked field, it would be legendary if he wins that bronze.

He swings his elbows wide. Doesn't look very efficient. But I think he could medal in London, sure. There's no beating Rudisha, but Symmonds is a 1:43 guy with experience and a pretty good finishing kick. He can do it.

Won't even make the final. USA 800 meter running is WEAK.

Yes but most likely he won't. I'd put him in the same category as Rupp: possible bit I wouldn't bet on it.

If the other medal contenders try to chase Rudisha from the gun, absolutely.

Exactly. Not very efficient running style. I'm surprised at his level he has not fixed that yet.

He's a much stronger and mesomorphic guy than most, if not all, mid-distance types. What do you want him to do, switch out his parents?

Yes, he can medal in London. Will he? Yes, I think he has a shot at silver or bronze.

Not likely, but not impossible either. The final will be fast, not tactical, because Rudisha will probs pull everyone through 400 around 50 seconds. I'm not sure if that works into his favor. Kaki,Aman, Yego, Borza, Kzczot, Lewandowski are all at least (if not faster) than Nick. I think it would take a few casualties in the rounds for Nick to have a good shot.

If the final is a fast race (1:43.low), he has a better shot at grabbing a medal because his style is great for time trialing. he lacks a strong burst in slow races at the world level. i don't get the bashing on the guy as a runner. he's very consistent to say the least.

he's made the last 2 world finals...if he makes this it, the 800 is the race where anything can happen. No one will beat Rudisha, he's that much better than everyone. However, symmonds is capable of being in the mix for silver and bronze with kaki, borza-howeveryouspellhisname, aman, and the two polish guys. I say that he won't get silver but can get bronze if he has perfect tactics. He can't repeat last year where he was boxed and then got bumped and got passed by everyone.
