LOL. TROLL MORE. The bush league move was DUMBAlough racing like a doped up bush pig in the prelim heat! Rupp responded like the serious, consummate professional he is, by simply ignoring the novice upstart, instead of tackling him in the finish zone, and beating his face in. |

Rupp is a sore loser. He sat on Chelanga for most of 10K at XC nats and then blew by him in the homestretch, but when Bumby did the same, he threw a tantrum. Lomong and Lagat kept it classy after their heat shaking hands with all other competitors. |

That was a bush league move by Bumbalough and one of the douchiest things I've seen in him out leaning Rupp at the line. It was like Malloy doing the same thing to Huddle in her race after Huddle led the whole thing, eased up, and purely realized they were all in the right place at that point. |

This is the most idiotic thing i have ever heard. There is a HUGE difference between out-kicking somebody for a national championship than out-kicking somebody in a prelim. And the way he did it too. He pulled right up next to him and looked at him. Not even like he wanted to win just to show he could kick with him, except that rupp wasnt even going hard. Also... Bumby could have cruised but now he still has to run the final. What is he gonna do when he cant kick with lagat and lomong because he exerted himself to win a prelim. (not that he could kick with them anyway). I am from Tennessee and love Bumby but that was just plain stupid. Sorry. |

Yeah, I think it was sill for Bumbalough to go that hard for first in the prelims, but Rupp showed lack of class for not only blowing him off, but leaving without shaking anyone's hand. Why would this thread get deleted? Isn't the one about Wairner still up? And I think it was a little more fair for Wairner to just want to get out of there, but Rupp really had no excuse for that |

I generally liken this site to a college team locker room in terms of the type and tone of conversation, but sometimes I think it's more like a middle school girls team with all the catty bitching about meaningless social interactions. I bet Bumby didn't think about "being left hanging" for 2 seconds after it happened, yet there are a whole bunch of people who have never met the guy who are upset and offended on his behalf. |

You nailed it. Bumby was a little silly trying to nip Rupp at the line, but Rupp acted like a typical jackass that he is. Completely pretending not to see Bumby reaching out to him (looking off in the distance), and then ignoring all other competitors. this is why people don't like Rupp. He has no personality, comes off as a pansy, and doesn't show much class. He one of hell of a goddamned runner, that's for sure. But his personality is lacking. |

How dare Bumby beat Rupp in a race at the US Nationals? The arrogance of him. Didn't he know where he was and who he was racing?! He should have done like Curtis Beach did for Eaton - pulled aside for Rupp and cheered him on for beating him. He'll have his chance in the final hopefully. |

Noticed it too. I'll speak to running/health/media/focus groups next week and I know I'll be hit with 'why should be care about this douche'? Doesn't help when your agent is Michael Johnson in the running community as he wasn't much better. At least Alberto is more liked, al beit distant. Not a real classy move to get the public behind you there, Galen. Win a medal? Meh. |

Rupp needs to realize he is not King Galen to his top competitors. Do you think a single international runner in London is going to show Rupp any deference? LOL. Andrew is running incredibly right now, and Galen should show a little US spirit and take a cue from the Decathletes. Salazar isn't going to coach humanity however. |

Why is it that after every race everybody has to shake hands, high-five, pat-on-the-back crap that means absolutely NOTHING! Look at the NBA when the players slap hands after every free-throw; NFL players dancing like fools after sacks, etc. If you're pissed off that someone beat you, walk away from him and get over it. You are not obligated to shake his hand. So what if someone calls you a poor loser. Thats his op. |

All technically true. Sadly, being an american you should know that technical truth means nothing. Anyway, it is polite and common courtesy to shake someones hands when they extend it. I feel like Bumbys lean was not planned, it just shows hes a competitive guy who let his competitive spirit take over in the last 100. This happens, its still a race after all, meaningless or not. You can't convince me that Rupp doesn't care about being beat even a little bit in a prelim at home. I personally think rupp is a massive tool who has no personality. Lookin over every lap for instructions from his lord and master. I'm no hater either, I just think rupp is a douche nozzle. Nothin but love for the rest of salazar's peeps. |

Does anyone remember that Rupp did the same thing to Solinsky in 2008 5k prelims, he outkicked Solinsky who did all the work to separate the top auto's. Not only did he outkick Solinsky, but he did his little arrogant celebration to the crowd down the stretch. Who celebrates winning a prelim?!?! At least Bumbi didn't celebrate it. No matter how you feel about Solinsky and Rupp, at least Solinsky was nice enough to shake Rupp's hand after those shenanigans. Rupp is quite the premadonna if you ask me..... |

Even though this is blatantly trolling, I will still address it. Bumby went out of his way in an obvious attempt to show-up Rupp. I've been involved with the sport in one capacity or another for over three decades, and I have never seen an athlete in a 5,000m prelim lean at the finish line in order to actually win the heat. Why would you do that? Are they now using lane assignments in the 5k? It was a childish move by Bumby. |
