Honestly, he should retire.

I no longer believe 1:39 would be easy for him. When he was in 43 second shape, it would have been. He would be lucky if he could break 1:41.5 at this point.
He should just go right to the 10K. He could run the last lap in 50 seconds - like Bekele.
He is definitely fast enough. He is just not on the juice anymore. After LaShawn got caught he stopped using and the result was poor performance compared to those that are. Once he gets back on if he decides to then we will see the 43.xx that he used to run.
What is perhaps now saddest about the Jeremy Wariner story is that ego (and $) seem to have cost him legendary status. Ditching Hart in 2008 after having run the 3rd fastest 400 in 2007 likely cost him another 400 Gold. LaShawn might very well have beaten him regardless in '08, but it does leave one wondering. I'm sure it haunts Wariner too, especially given where he is now in his career.
He has gotten progressively slower every year since they started testing sprinters for EPO.
He absolutely should NOT move up to the 800m.

I highly doubt he could get that close. Maybe in sub-44 condition, in reality anybody would be lucky to break 1:41.5. Only two people have done it.
1 1:41.01 David Rudisha
2 1:41.09 David Rudisha
3 1:41.11 Wilson Kipketer
4 1:41.24 Wilson Kipketer
5 1:41.33 David Rudisha
6 1:41.51 David Rudisha
7 1:41.73 Sebastian Coe
7 1:41.73 Wilson Kipketer
9 1:41.74 David Rudisha
Agree.
He should move to 800m and 1500m

I remember that coaching change. I believe Wariner asked Hart to take a cut in pay and Hart refused. Considering Wariner had run sub 43.50 in 2007, he seemed on the verge of breaking the world record in 2008. I guess we'll never know.
He was a great runner. I think the jump to the 800 is problematic. Isn't the training completely different? It would require building an aerobic base that Wariner has never done before.
4 olympic medals (3 gold and a silver), 6 world championship medals (5 gold and a silver), running under 44, need I go on? Seems like a pretty legit career to me.
poor had natural talent but he is older now, unless he starts juicing like Gatlin and Merrit he will never come close to winning again.

If he was with Nike instead of adidas, he could petition, oh screw the petition, he could have asked to run the 800 finals.
My thought as he ran the last 100- time to move up- I hope he makes that decision.
Who the hell is the guy telling him to retire? Only he can decide that.
I am so freaking sick of these losers who've never been there telling runners to retire.
Wariner never would have even broken 1:46, not even in his prime.
lol hahahaha sooo true
am i banned?
guess not.

This was my first thought too. Same logic - he's already qualified in a shorter event, petition to participate. The precedent was set. Although, I think he missed the semi's.
Will he be in the 4 X 400 team pool and run qualifying rounds?

You mean like Juantorena didn't?
