I'm sure Tegenkamp will be very upset to hear that you, an anonymous online poster, is upset with how he qualified for his second Olympic team, especially in a race that he only ran for the first time last year.

you guys are all wusses when it comes to races. I may not have qualified for olympics..I take the race out from the gun and kill it...even if it means I get beat. At least I can walk around knowing I had the balls to go hard.

The goal of a race is to win. that is why they have races. PR count for shit in the olympic trials. Teg had one goal and that was to finish in the top 3. He did and he is getting paid because of it and you are sitting talking shit. He is a winner and you are a want to be piece of crap. You can tell yourself that you know so much but in the end you are just a big talking loser and teg is running in the olympics.

He could have at least offered to share the lead for a lap or two.

It's not like he didn't know what was going on.

Not his job if anything he does not want to help because it make one more person eligible to make the team. You understand that he gets huge bonuses for making the team. It is his living. Why ever help a guy that might take 50k out of your pocket.

You're criticizing Teg for sitting in a world class race? Have you watched many world class distance races? That strategy is used by EVERYONE with the ability to hang in a given race. Yeah, in a lot of cases it's not pretty to watch but it's how the race unfolds. He knows how to run a race. Would you prefer him to go out running as hard as he possibly can trying for a PR at the Olympics? Seriously, is this a joke? What is the point of the Olympic Trials? To make the team. What did Teg do? He did exactly what he needed to do to accomplish just that. This is a US qualifying round for the freaking OLYMPICS. Get the job done at the Trials and THEN pour your guts out at the actual Games.

And how many Olympic teams have you made? That's right, none. Tegenkamp got 4th in a World Championship 5K, which is closer than any American not named Bernard Lagat has gotten in a long time.
