Despite all the crying, Miami has actually been called for 2 more fouls so far this series.
Not when it counts the most. LeBron clearly fouled Durant at the end of Game 2, but there wasn't a whistle. In the next game, Durant got called for his fourth foul early in the third quarter under almost identical circumstances! That pair of calls (or lack of same) has had a huge impact upon the series.
The bottom line is as follows: the refs have been inconsistent, and it has greatly affected the outcome of the games. If you're going to call moderate contact a foul, that's fine. If you are going to "let them play," that's fine too. But, they absolutely need to be consistent! Don't change your methods from game-to-game!
One of the things that causes this is the ridiculous practice of rotating the refs so that they have the "prestige" and extra $$ from officiating an NBA Finals game. Ultimately, it is a disservice to both the players and the fans because it causes inconsistent calls, and this series is a classic example. The NBA should pick one officiating crew and stick with it throughout the entire series!
