This is a serious thread, have a few random questions...

I went to IU back in the day and was/am a big fan of the Jefferson brothers. Love that Sean is now doing Tri's, but also love that John is sticking with the 1500 after all these years.

How does he do it? He was running the same times 8 years ago. How does he stick with it for this long? I know he's had injuries, but the mental toughness to be able to stick with it is pretty amazing.

Financially how does he do it? Team Indiana Elite cannot be paying him anything. I know he gets free room/board to train at IU....which is AWESOME, in my opinion. I'd love that, even if I wasn't making any money. But eventually the dream has to die.

I read on the Team Indiana Elites website that some runners used to make approximately $10,000 a year for shoe contracts. $10k a year? That's below minimum wage to begin with. It's amazing these guys survive. But i guess they get their housing paid for, food probably(?), and their trips to meets paid for. So not a terrible life.

What's next for him? He didn't qualify for the trials. Does he go to lesser meets in Europe?

He did qualify for the trials with a 3:39. If someone does not have to spend money on room and board, then what else is there? He probably isn't going on shopping sprees and vacations.
