I think its nice to have the southern representation. Makes the meet feel more "whole" if you know what I mean. It's supposed to be a representation of the entire country you know, not wisconsin and Illinoise.

Does anyone know when the rankings come out?

in 2011, pre-season was 8/23.
week 1 rankings was 9/13.
2012 rankings will follow a similar format.
you can find ranking history and new rankings when they're posted right here:

But what about the level of competition? that does take a hit...

I would Guess He's capable of running 14:20 or so on a track in good shape. That for him means running 120 miles a week I'm sure, maybe more, I don't know, I didn't go to NCC But I heard Rumors. I'm not sure if they are true but I've heard from multiple sources and have reason to believe they are. I'm just saying, anyone can run 120 miles a week and god damn you better be able to finish in the top 10 of DIII. I'm not hating on him or anything I just think 120 miles a week is too much unless your running like 13:30's. I think that in order to be considered talented you need to be able to finish in the top 10 of D3 running less than 40-50 miles a week.
Really? Anyone can run 120 miles a week? Because last time I tried my body broke down after running 90 miles for 3 weeks straight. My knees hurt so much I couldn't run for a month. Most people's bodies can't run 120 miles a week without getting injured, and that is why we are in D3. If I could run 120 miles I would be in d1.
no you wouldn't
Anybody notice the bix 7 results?
My apologies, I was misinterpreted. I meant that anyone that runs 120 miles a week can be really good. The reason you can't run D1 is because you can't run 120 miles a week. If I could run 120 miles a week I probably would have been a really good D1 athlete. Because of injuries I could only run about 50-60 miles a week and had to compete with a bunch of cheaters from NCC running almost 3 times as much mileage as my self. If I could have run that much mileage in college I assure you I could have been a multiple time national champion. I wasn't able to do that but still did as well as some of the North Central guys without doing absurd mileage.
Whoa, good job! They must have all been cheaters because they knew how to run high mileage without injuring themselves. Now that we know we should probably write a letter to the NCAA and get those hardworking corner-cutters suspended! Or maybe you're just a troll.

They must have forgotten about that don't-try-too-hard clause on their NCAA forms
The guy asking about the Bix 7 results is just fishing for some Calvin love.
Hey the NCAA says any performance enhancer that gives one person an advantage over another and isn't available to all athletes is illegal. In that case, high mileage should also be illegal because only a select few have access to it and it certainly provides a significant advantage over others.
Any predictions or are you just going to talk about mileage?

its already been said in the tread, there seems to be a common thought that the top 4 will be Calvin, NCC, Haverford and Wash U. I forget who said it but we cant really make accurate predictions until the season really gets under way. So really, all this bull about how NCC is cheating or, how well the west will do, is just fine by be as idol talk until we get down to the nitty gritty in a few weeks. So I say lets just keep talking random trash about random team, although NCC seems to be the biggest target, and just have fun, the thread will regain legitimacy once the season starts.
1 North Central (Ill.)
2 Haverford
3 SUNY Geneseo
4 Washington (Mo.)
5 Wheaton (Ill.)
6 Tufts
7 Calvin
8 Bates
9 -T Middlebury
9 -T UW-La Crosse
Wow, Al Carius is in his 47th year of coaching. Anyone know the record for longest-serving coach?
Anyone know why SUNY Geneseo gets such a high ranking? Unless the USFTCCCA knows something I dont, like if both of their top guys come back for a 5th year, it seems to me they take a pretty significant hit from graduation. I cannot imagine they are a top 3 team without both Berube and Navarro back, but best of luck to them in the upcoming season.
I think North Central has to be a clear-cut pre-season #1. They ran lights out at nationals last fall and that squad returns nearly intact. They have what appears to be 7 returns break 15:00 in the 5k this past spring. A guy like Yonatan Mascote could really break out.
I think the next tier is comprised of two more teams--Calvin and Haverford.
Haverford:
Schilit- 29:46, 13:59, 3:47.
Ivo Milic-Strkalj- 1:52 up to 14:47 range.
Kissin- 14:29
Stadler-14:43
Sokas-14:45 and 30:25.
Bregman-9:08 steeple this past year as a sophomore.
Calvin:
Kramer-14:12, 8:51 steeple. He and Schilit have to be favorites.
Kerr-24:42, 14:24
Vanderroest-14:29, 30:27
Whittle-3:50, 14:49
Kerk-14:40
Christiansen-14:59, 30:41
pre season mean jack sh*t. Seriously. Lets wait til Terre Haute. Then the real truth will emerge.
