Certainly more deeper.
Certainly more deeper.
Looks like Haverford won their region though Schillit did not run.....any idea what's up there.....?
Calvin wins GL with 36. Kramer and Vanderoest run but don't look like top 10 runners. With a minute spread I think Calvin is out of title contention unless they pull out something crazy like at Oshkosh.

Anybody have a central region update?
Did Oshkosh spontaneously collapse into a black hole? I can't find a word on what happened and the race has been over for an hour.
Wintheiser and St. Olaf win the central region, Central College is second. I could be wrong, but I don't think the Dutch have been to nationals for 20+ years.
Not official but l heard ncc for the win over uw lax but that's all I got.

CMS + PP are autos. Will La Verne get in by scoring under 100? after a 7-8th place region rating all season, beating Willamette, I wonder if they'll qualify.
That joke wasn't clever the first hundred times I saw it when I first went on this board seven years ago. I have no connection to St. Olaf other than that I graduated from another school in the MIAC before most of you were born. While looking in horror at the dismal performances of my old school's team, I noticed this kid is kind of impressive considering how much he's improving. My point is that if he keeps improving like he has been, just maybe the 14 second gap between Tim Nelson and GrantWintheiser at Griak might shrink at nationals. Even if it doesn't shrink, if Grant can keep within 25 seconds of Nelson, I'd say there's at least some chance for top 3.I didn't see it but I'm guessing he won Regionals easily enough. We'll see what happens.
hey what you doin wrote:
Grant, you've had some great races this year, Although I think the Griak and Miac were a little down this year, I understand though that you would imagine yourself a top 3 guy, but I think nationals will be a bit deeper than the griak and certianly more deeper than Lacrosse.

Can anybody think of any scenario besides a fall or getting sick the week of where Tim Nelson does not win nationals? Can he run in the 23:30 range?
William Jones looks good and has run in the 23:30 range. Could be a few runners up there contending.
What would be everyone's guesses for the women's rankings with regionals finished?
Johns Hopkins has to be in there somewhere, they beat Dickinson and Allegheny

I think this depends on just how good Kerr and Williams Jones are. A 48 second spread between the 1 and 4 guy isn't good and they'll need to close that up, but sometimes in a xc race the top couple guys will break away early and end up running a very different race going out hard while the chase pack runs more tactically, so the gap between the top guys and the rest of the field is larger than it normally might be. And if Kerr and William Jones are contending for the win, which they very well could be, that makes a 62 second spread less concerning.
So in sum, i think that didn't look a great race from Calvin, but I wouldn't say they are out of contention. North Central and Haverford didn't have great 1-5 spreads either, and Haverford hasn't had Schillit in their last two races, which hurts them a lot. I think North Central looked the best at their regional meet and should be the favorite going in to Nationals, even if they aren't ranked #1.

I had St. Lawrence instead of Machester. Not bad guessing. It will be a lot harder to guess if they ever remove the 5 team cap.
I find it hard to believe that a team (Claremont, CA) who just averaged under 25:00 per scoring runner is only ranked 9th in D3. Was the course short or something?
