Bottom-right of the bleachers in this picture (all round the bald guy in the orange shirt). What is going on that has these people ignoring a blanket finish - with a dive -- during the men's 1500 final?

Why is everyone else in the race concerned with looking at Bayer/Batty when there are still 6 AA spots left?

They're looking at the big screen that gave them a better view than they were getting from their seats.

I'm almost certain the guy with the grey shirt and baseball cap with his arms crossed is the throws coach at NC State. So they could easily be watching a throwing event on the infield. Otherwise from that spot you couldn't tell how close the race is from behind so looking at a jumbo tron is a good idea there. Is the runner on the far left with State on his chest NC State? This may give more weight to the jumbo tron theory vs a throwing event if so.
