Is Bolt still a youngster at 26 years old? 6/13/2012 7:08AM Reply | Return to Index | Report Post
Should Bolt get a pass on what is likely his second collision as a result from DUI? The cop say's oh he's a youngster and youngsters will do what they do. I mean I understand that Bolt can do anyting he wants in Jamaica, but I just think it's ridiculous that they could say that he's "a youngster" and should get a pass because of that, so that he can "learn" from his mistake.

Pro athletes (many of them gangsters) often get free passes in life, unfortunately.

What bothers me is that he was referred to as a youngster! At 26 years old you should be a responsible adult!

Do we need flagpole to teach Bolt how to be a man?

He IS an adult. A man though doesn't drive drunk.
Bolt's really 19 on the inside

I don't care what age someone is, there is no excuse for drunk driving. One of the dumbest things you can do. It ruins so many people's lives (and not just the ones who were driving drunk). If he really was driving drunk, I wish he broke a leg and couldn't run in the Olympics. That would have been a fitting punishment.

That said, I'm not surprised at all. Pro athletes get away with a lot worse than that in the US (murder for example) so why shouldn't he get away with a DUI in Jamaica?

And no, 26 is definitely not a youngster; he's older than me too.

You're all hypocrites. You're telling me none of you have ever had a few drinks and then gotten in your car and gone wherever, knowing in your mind that you were "fine"?

Have you ever been to a bar?? People have "only a couple drinks" all the time. If they were pulled over, and breathalyzed, most these people would blow over .08, and thus, in the eyes of the law, be driving "drunk."

People drive drunk and tipsy all the time (Yes, even "real men" with good-paying jobs and wives and kids, the whole 9 yards).

Stop being stupid. Go down your triple expresso in the morning and haphazardly weave in and out of rush hour traffic to get to your all-too important job as a corporate puppet.

Bolt is Jamaica's Golden Boy. There's plenty of pressure to cover up any of his wrongdoings.

What is "expresso"? Is that, like, a really fast espresso?

You're not popular enough to go to a party and not drink and still have a good time. It's ok though bro.

It was 5am, he'd been traveling a lot, probably still a bit jetlagged. Driving tired is close to as dangerous as driving drunk but doesn't have the same social stigma.

Yeah, he passed the breathalyzer a full day and change later. He was not tested at the scene. Most Jamaicans wish they had that privelige.

Read carefully....

"Radcliffe Lewis, senior superintendent in charge of the Police Traffic Division, told The Gleaner that Bolt was yesterday subjected to a hand-held breathalyser tester."

Date of article = Tuesday, June 12th. You do the math.
