Don't. Seriously there are too many parents like you who ruin a kid's desire to run by pressuring them too soon. Let him figure things out on his own. |

No need. Colleges will come to him if he is good enough and he will make his own decision, and possibly ask you for advice. Other than that, just let him run. |

I certainly won't ruin his desire. He's a great talent, and I want to find him a college that is right for him. I want to find a coach that understands his ability. |

btw he's setting up for a less than ideal running career with that relationship between his times |
| Suggestion |
| ||
|
How many college coaches are going to be around in 6 years or so. Let it play out and if his times are good enough to be recruited, they will find him. And one more suggestion, coaches recruit the kids, not the parents. |

Do you wipe your kid's butt also? |

I would say when the pot wears off or 4 years. Whichever comes LAST. |

I imagine you are one of those parents screaming at the kindergarten soccer game touchline "GO. ZACH! GO. GO!!!!!!SPACE. MAN ON. NO. No. No. NOOOOOO!!!!!!!ZACH. SHOOT. WHOOOOOOO.WAY TO GO!!!!!!!!!!!WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! YESSSSSSSS!!!!!" Then you turn to one of the other mortified parents who think you are the worlds largest tool bag and say " it's just a game" |

Probably a troll but if not: dude your kid is 13, let him be a kid. He's not even in high school. |
| Never |

Never. If your kid continues to progress, coaches will contact him in a few years. |

DON'T!!!!!! HE'S IN 7TH GRADE!!!! LET THE KID BE A KID AND ENJOY LIFE! LET HIM GO THROUGH HIGH SCHOOL, RUN RACES, COMPETE WITH THE TEAM, LISTEN TO HIS COACH, KICK ASS IN HIS STUDIES, GET A GIRLFRIEND, GET LAID AND BE A KID!!! SERIOUSLY YOU'RE LIKE MICHAEL JACKSON'S DAD AND YOUR KID'S DREAMS DON'T MATTER!! GOD! |

I sure hope this is a joke. Just in case it isn't... 1) 2:03 for a 7th grader is crazy good. His other times are slower by comparison. 2) You would be foolish to contact college coaches about a 7th grader. Ok, I was going to write more, but I've decided you have to be a troll, so I'm stopping. 8/10 though, so good job. |

No, DEFINITELY a troll. |

3/10 ... "world best dad" as a username is a little over the top, the rest was nicely done. |

No college coach will return your phone calls. Running is an unpredictable sport. We have no idea what a 7th grader will run in 5 years. Please keep it fun for the little guy. Limit his hard efforts to 1 per month (a race perhaps). Don't over race him. Teach him to stretch and eat right. Burn out is so huge and your son is headed straight for it if he runs too many hard efforts. Keep it fun and EASY. |

Don't contact a coach. Like others have said the coaches will find him. It is not about how you think he will fit in or if the coach will see his ability. Most coaches should be able to identify talent when it hits them in the face. Oh yeah he is in seventh grade relax. |

His senior year he will barely break 2 and 430 for 1600 with a 15:59 5k and be burnt out then he will go to his true passion of doing drag in a New York City gay club....dont believe me look at the way he talks and his hand movements... But best of luck to you...thanks dad |

My son had similar times in 7th grade (maybe not as fast in the 800 but) he went to high school ran two years of cross country but was also a pretty good baseball player. Decided to play baseball and to this day, his best friends are from that team. Let him do what he wants. If he stays with running and improves coaches will find him. |
