Go Laura..GO Oregon
Go Laura..GO Oregon
I've been saying this since she got to Oregon. She should be in the 4.
pretty impressive for the North Dakota native
I don't really know a lot about the improvement of girls after college, but does this mean she has a solid chance at sub 50? And wouldn't that put her i medal contention for the OG? I don't see why her 800 has topped out if she's go this much speed! I barely split faster than that (51.1) my senior year of high school and I ran 1:55! (I also didn't have mile speed that was all that exceptional, 4:28.4 1600m)

Perhaps because the 800 is still largely about endurance, something you Yanks seem to continually forget. Speed is all very well, but if you don't combine it with lots and lots of base, it goes to waste.

Yeah if only guys like Symmonds and Wheating could run a 15.
She ran the 100, 200, 400, 800, 1600, 3200 in HS, ran XC as well!
also notable, loxsom split 45.5, torrin lawrence didn't qualify for the 400 final but anchored in the fastest split, 44.04, and erik kynard hj'd 7'8", with the runner up in 7'7", plus 3 guys sub 44.85 (top 44.67) in the 400m prelims and a 9.96 in the 100m prelims!

Ran, how about State Titles in each, and some were 4-5 times; got beat the last year in the 100 by another pretty good wide-ranging sprinter.
I do think that her only hope of being world class is in the 800 because if it is her best event and she can hit those 400 times, should could go 1:58 etc. However, a 51.76 relay leg (when you run it all the time) is not all that far up the pecking order at NCAAs [six legs faster, three almost exactly equal her mark. A couple of the fastest (top 2 in open 400) did not have to race race real hard. Three could be four 49.x legs in the final.
And, She had the second fastest 800 mark, I think.
How bout Brady Gehret from Penn State splitting 44.22 in the 4x400 after qualifying for finals in the open 400. He's gotta be looking at top 3 in the 400 and well under 45. Looks like we might have a new Jeremy Wariner, cause this white boy can run
one of the coaches recently said she would be an 800/1500 runner.
for now she trains with the sprinters
...I hope having to run on the 4x4 doesn't hurt her in the 800 final...
Actually, Oregon has split their sprinter/middle distance women into two groups. Roesler's workouts are with the overdistance group, meaning she is already actually doing middle distance training.
Western Roller--
I believe it's the opposite, if this article is any indication:
http://www.oregonlive.com/trackandfield/index.ssf/2012/06/ncaa_track_championships_laura.html
"Roesler trains under Johnson, who works with Oregon's sprinters.
That makes her unique at Oregon. The Ducks' other top mid-distance runners -- Kesselring, Francis, Jordan Hasay, Becca Friday -- have more of a distance orientation."
Roesler will win tomorrow, Price 2nd, Kesselring 3rd, BYU girl 4th, Caroline King 5th.
And for the 1500...anyone notice that Becca Friday is kind of a looker? She's got back.

Really?? She has a chance to win the 800, she has no chance to win the 400.

I guess it was Francis whom I was told had been placed into a group that was training at over-distance. I appreciate you setting it straight and even providing the article to confirm.
Actually I was looking forward to watching the tall freshman, Francis, run in that 800 final. I thought she had a chance to steal the race, but have heard that she was sick for the prelims and barely finished the race, not advancing.
Wow.
Are there more haha?
