Dix? Webb? Wheating? Centro? Lagat? Bekele One thing is for certain... USA Olympic Trials suddenly got a lot more interesting - For All The Wrong Reasons. The 5 and 10 thousand are wide open, except for Rupp. The 1500? A month ago, we would have thought there were 3-4 worthy athletes that might not make the rush to top three. Now? There seems no lock to make the team. 800 meters...after Symmonds...looks more wide open now. Even KD may have a shot. |

For me, Bekele. I cannot fathom him losing to ANYBODY after him being so dominant. He is improving though. 10k gold! |

Rupp for not being able to hang with his training partner Farah on the last lap. |

It's crazy. To me, Bekele didn't look good out there. Looked like he was struggling, but for crying out loud he's the most talented 5,000 meter runner on the planet, and he pulled that 13:01 out of nowhere. Here's hoping he can get fit in time. I would really like to see him pull off the double double 5k/10k olympic gold like lasse viren in addition to the athens 10k gold and 5k silver. |

Jenny Simpson, for getting outkicked by Alice Schmidt in what was an already slow race. |

Can't say Dix. His main event is the 200 and anyone could have predicted that he would scratch one of his races. It wasn't awful anyway. Webb was very disappointing. The pace was slow, yes, but he couldn't even hang onto it and he got BURNED by a ton of people the last lap. He was laboring HARD. Wheating was also a big disappointment, and from his interview, it's clear he's very disappointed in himself. Not good. Centro looked really good and moved up a lot the last lap. He's coming back from an injury and this was his outdoor debut. He looked good to me. Lagat seemed to be trolling us. Went straight to the back and just stayed there. Lomong was a big disappointment to me. |

Would you be less disappointed if Wheating was happy with himself? |

Rupps sub par 5k. |

You obviously don't follow the sport very closely if you expected anything else. This was 100% expected. |

Borzakovsky in the 800-about as sub par as it gets. |

all americans in mile races at Pre except RB and DT, who were the only 2 who looked competitive against the world's best. i'm tempted to put Lomong on top. remember how everyone was on his jock after Stanford? perhaps yesterday was an indicator he should focus on the 5K at trials.

Lomong without a doubt. I thought he would be in that race and he never was. After such a strong 13:11 last month, this was unexpected. Probably just in the middle of hard training as he indicated. |

In the 100 it looked like Dix pulled at the end. Looked like a hamstring problem. Hopefully he's ok for the trials. If he's injured he should probably consider just doing the 200. |

In some cases, especially Lagat and Teg, I wonder whether they weren't racing only to fulfill contractual obligations. |
