http://www.trackjenny.com/ Seriously. It looks so sharp. And intimidating. I think websites/blogs are a much better way to follow athletes than twitter or whatever so huzzah! |

I mean no disrespect in any way in asking this question: What happened to her in the national cross country race a few years ago when she collapsed? Was that an anxiety attack? If so, has she acknowledged it as such? If so, is she working with a sport psychologist? I know several people who could really help her. I wish her the best and hope she used that experience to propel her forward. |

From the website: "Jenny Simpson is a professional track and field athlete..." Do they really feel the need to say this? Do they really expect people who have no idea who she is to come to her website by accident? |

She reminds me of the aliens from Mars Attacks |

Nice piece to the site is the section where it lists future events and race distances. It is a common complaint here that there is a lack of communication by the pro's of their plans/ injury status, this seems a nice alternative for those interested in that sort of info. |

Her picture at the top of the page looks as if she's most of the way through feline cross-over procedures. |

Her alma mater is listed as the University of Colordo. |

That's exactly what it was. It's also known as pulling a Suzy Favor-Hamilton. The thing I find amazing about her is that even though she's the world champion, the 1500 is not her best event, and it's not even her second best event. She is probably a better 5000 and steeple runner from a purely equivalent time perspective. |

The bobblehead ad for the site designers is obnoxiously large. I've never seen that done before. Why isn't the shoe called the SimpsonXXXX? |

The vanity behind twitter / self-promoting websites is staggering. Why do people think they are interesting enough to warrant this? |

The girls that year just went out way too hard in that race. When you don't get enough oxygen or blood to where it needs to go, you might pass out. |

So your recommendation would be for self-employed workers not to promote themselves? Is this your professional advice to them? I'm thinking that if I were in a similar line of work, with my income dependent not only on my performance results but also on my perceived marketability, that self-promotion would be an area I would want to develop fully.

She's being paid for her ability to endorse certain products and draw fan interest to races. You don't have to like it, but the fact that you don't understand that this is her career is surprising. |

So....what was intense about the website? It just looks like some athlete's website. |

Jenny won the f...ing world championship last year and you are bringing up old history of her NCAA collapse? Everyone has a bad race. A world championship makes up for everything. As is said everywhere... get a life. |

I wouldn't exactly call that intense. There isn't really anything special or unique about that site at all. They might as well have just done a blogger site the way it looks. Also, the torso picture of her on the top left of the header is not flattering at all...she looks semi-pregnant. |

It's not vanity. Publicity and self-promotion is part of the job of a professional athlete. Simpson supports herself by being paid money to endorse shoes. It's her job to make herself available to the public and try to develop fans. We are long past the era when athletes were supposed to be amateurs who were unpaid gentlemen of leisure or managed to train in their spare time. |

The woman is adorably cute - or was when she won that big race. So how hard did they work to find these photos to make her look as unattractive, hairy and masculine as possible? WTF?! |
