I started because it seemed the best sport for my body type in JR High. Kept at it because I kept improving.

I started running to finish losing weight in my mid-20s. Before my weight loss I hated running. I never ran in high school but I have gotten pretty good at it. I run know to maintain fitness & it's a nice stress reliever to me. I really enjoy racing & find myself to be an age group winner on a regular basis.
I needed PE credit to graduate from high school. I run because otherwise I would be doing nothing all day other than studying and wasting time.
Turned my 8th grade presidential fitness mile into a race with two soccer players who bet me that I couldn't break 6:00 off of just playing around with mountain bikes, wound up just barely getting under and kind of liking it,
went out for track in H.S. to pad my resume and meet people, wound up being mediocre.
Went out for college xc/track to pad my resume, meet people and try to have the college athlete experience, I was horrible and got a good lesson in how to be hurt and get your ass kicked all the time.
Now I just run because i still sort of can and I've made fun of fatties all my life among my friends so I cannot allow myself to be fat.
I started running because it was the only sport I could play where the officials couldn't fvck up my performance.
I started running because I just liked running, and continue for the same reason.
I started running because my best friend in freshman year thought it would be fun to run XC the next year (he ended up running 19:30 and quitting). I fell in love with the sport, got really obsessive-compulsive about training and competing, and never looked back.
I ran track my junior year of high school to get in shape for football, and realized I was better at running so I ran for the XC team. Fell in love with it and never stopped. I love the feeling of accomplishment and just running. Can't imagine my life without it.
