What is up with all these losers riding motorcycles who pull up on the sidewalk in front of a store, or park in the striped portion of a parking lot, or park in a spot that is clearly not a parking spot?!
Why are they such jack-wagons to think they can park wherever the hell they want?!
It's because, as "edgy" and "cool" guys, they get to do illegal stuff.
You know, as long as there's a good chance that they'll only be inconveniencing others, and not face any inconvenience themselves.

It's because those spots are too small for a car, but not too small for a bike. So bikers park there to free up spots for car drivers. They usually choose spots that don't inconvience others so as to avoid tickets.

What in god's name are you talking about? If I go into a lot and there is a spot for me to put my bike that is out of the way, I will park there so that cars can use the larger spots that are "meant" for cars.
Would you prefer a bike takes up way more space than it needs?

Not only do I park in non-parking spots but I also ride to the front of the line when there is road construction, double the suggested speed limit on curvy highways, pass on double yellows and in general do not follow all the rules that cars need to abide by in order to operate safely. I do this not only because the speed to weight ratio is in my favor but also because I don't like to be around other motorists (especially if they are talking on a cell phone). When you do all this parking in a small space doesn't seem like such a party foul.

When those trapped in cars start to complain I just say, "close your eyes for two seconds and I'm in and out of your life." Unfortunately, here in the States there is a large preponderance of road hogs who feel dissed if a motorcycle takes advantage of their small profile - be that parking or passing.

No really why do it? He's not saying parking in "smaller" parking spots that are meant for bikes. He means parking illegally is non-parking areas. I've never understood this at all. I'm not a fare weather biker either. Rain or shine and the coldest I've gone to work when it was 17 out. Parking spots aren't called "car only" parking spots. They are called parking spots. If you really worried about you bike "taking up" to much room park to left of right of a spot and another biker can share the spot. But parking on the sidewalk or other non-parking spots really is for jackasses that think they are special for being on a bike. Realize that the rules are no diferent.

What's up with car drivers driving 10 feet behind a motorcycle on the highway? (motorcycles break much, much faster, meaning cars should be even farther behind motorcycles than other cars when tailing)
The holier than thou attitude goes both ways. At least the things we do with our motorcycles don't endanger others' lives. And the parking issue; you really are just griping to gripe. I live in a city, it's more convenient for everyone when I park on the sidewalk instead of on the street. And hey, if there's a meter, I even pay it, so a car can park for free.

Like many other things that don't affect me in any way, this does not bother me. How can you possibly care so much about where a person chooses to park his bike? I hope I never get so old and boring that I complain about where people choose to park.
I've lived everywhere from small towns of ~30,000 to Manhattan. I've never seen a motorcycle parked on the sidewalk. Where do you live that you see this happening with any regularity? Is this a real problem, or just something you've made up?
I live in the Bay Area and it's not uncommon to see, although they do usually put it in a place that is somewhat out of the way. Like not smack dab in the middle of a sidewalk where pedestrians actually travel. But I agree with DC that this should not bother you so much. It's not healthy to worry about all of the trivially bothersome things you encounter in your life.
The big city park near my apartment has an area for bicycle parking near one of the entrances, with at least half a dozen signs saying "No motorcycle parking." Needless to say, a lot of motorcycles get parked there. Whenever I see one parked there I push it over with my foot. The owners don't usually park it there again.

I actually prefer when bikers park in nonparking spots. Nothing is more frustrating than think you've finally find a spot in a crowded parking lot only to get half way turned in to realize there is a bike in it.
So to those bikers who let people with the big cars have the spots, thank you.
I live in Texas and it is everywhere. Sometimes in front of the soda machines at Wal Mart, sometimes in front of the grills outside the store blocking access to merchandise from customers, etc.
And to that a-hole who mentioned jumping to the front of the line in a construction zone, or any traffic jam for that matter, you are the reason people detest bikers...moron.
