Shoe help - Similar to Kinvara? 5/19/2012 9:43PM Reply | Return to Index | Report Post
I'm looking for a shoe for summer training. I've been training in the Kinvara for the last few blocks, but the place where I'm going to train is mostly dirt/rocky roads and I find that the sole on the Kinvara is a bit too thin when running on this type of terrain (I really notice if I land on a rock).

Ideally, I'm looking for a shoe that is similarly flat, light, and flexible, but has a slightly harder/tougher sole that might be better for running on moderately rocky terrain. I like a lighter trainer, so I'd be open to something like a marathon flat as well. I haven't bought shoes (other than Kinvaras) in a while, so I'm not sure what's currently out there. Any help would be much appreciated!

I'd take a look at the New Balance MT110. It is a little lower to the ground but utilizes the same 4mm drop your used to. Also, theres a Kinvara trail version coming out in the near future. I'm not sure if its an early or late summer release though.

There will be a trail kinvara released very soon. That would be my first recommendation. Otherwise, the Brooks Pure Grit is a great hybrid trail/road shoe with a 4mm drop.
