Genzebe Dibaba is the favorite for gold at 1500 now. She just blasted the field running 3:57.77. No one broke 4:00 last year and Dibaba went way under 4:00 in the first meet of the year.

Dibaba is the sister of Tirunesh Dibaba and won world indoors as well. This is her first year as a 1500m runner and its been incredible.

Abeba Aregawi of Ethiopia was sub 4:00 in 2nd as well.

What happened in that 200?

Jeter caught Campbell-Brown and right before passing her stuttered and let Campbell-Brown won.

Did she slip in the rain?

The weather is the story in Shanghai with rain and cool temperatures.

Might be a preview of what could happen in London with rain.

It's clear a lot of these guys don't like running in the rain.

The 5k came down to a 400 as probably 12 guys were together with a lap to go as the pace was slow in the rain.

In the end Hagos Gebrhiwet wanted it most as he ran 54.35 the last lap to win in 13:11.00. This was Gebrhiwet's first track 5000m ever and he was 2nd at Carlsbad and ran at World youth's last year.

Bekele moved up the last lap to get 5th in 13:13.89. He never seemed interesting in winning as he was in the back throughouth and didn't position himself at the front of the pack. He did beat Augustin Choge who won the 3000m last week.

What to make of this? Not much. In the preview we said if Bekele ran over 13:10 it wouldn't be a good sign but time is thrown out the window here.

Gebrhiwet could be a force in the future, but he clearly wanted this one the most.

Also other good chinese results: a win in the men's pole vault, second in women's high jump, third in men's 400mH.

Kiprop was well beaten in a slow 800m.

Genzebe Dibaba - 3:57 in May, a national record! What will we see from her later this year, for example in Zurich?

proving once again that powell can only win, when there is no one in the race to challenge him.
