Back in the day I had a long run Sunday AM and was so pissed up I had to run between two teammates to keep going straight. By the end of the run it was one of my best long runs ever. |
| been there done that |

If you are drunk for the entire workout it will be fine, if it starts wearing off half way through the workout you're going to be in a world of hurt. but actually I've only done long runs drunk, never done a workout drunk. So it's possible that it could be the worst thing ever, tell us how it goes! |

I will preface this by stating I never drank before I turned 21. My 21st bday was the day before xc regionals, so I didn't actually drink since I had to race the next day. I raced, we won regionals, and a party was planned. I drank for the first time at this party. I drank more than I should have for my first time and got sick. I few hours later I wake up. It's time for our Sunday long run. I'm still buzzed and a little uneasy. We had a 14 mile run scheduled. I started slow and picked it up during the second half of the run. I averaged around 6:30 per mile overall. When I finished I had a very ill look and my coach said "Smile!! You are a regional champion!!" I gave him the look of death, jogged home, threw up and slept. You can do a workout while still drunk... Long run more so than a full on track workout. You won't enjoy the aftermath. In the future, don't drink when you have a tough workout the next day. |

i admit, after having a few drinks and being buzzed, i have gone out and run a hard 3 mile hilly route. (usually at dusk) and has been the best run or the craziest. |

So after all as said and done, longer intervals were 4-5 seconds off while shorter ones were 1-2 seconds off. A bit of a struggle and glad that is over |

Running buzzed is one of the best feelings / best running experiences ever. It's truly run by effort and the mental part is completely taken away! A few of my friends and myself got slammed and few of them had running gear in their cars, so about four of us decided to run about 5 miles at 2am. It was a nice, cool night and we blazed through that run --- it felt like we had only ran 15 minutes but one of them brought a watch and we finished well under 35 minutes if I recall. The problem is the crash afterwards We all asleep literally 30 minutes after finishing the run. Highly recommended if you have some safe backwoods roads to do it on. |
