The former grow faster than the latter. Why?

They also grow fated in summer vs. Winter. Why??

Probably because the life led by our primitive ancestors would wear down the fingernails a lot more than it would the toenails.
Wait, they did it first?

The latter are evolutionarily less important because you can't scratch your balls with them.

my experiment of n=1 tells me that the toe nails thing is mostly due to pressure from shoes. I had a foot injury in 2009 and couldnt run for a few weeks and had to wear sandals at all times (instead of closed toed shoes) and i found that my toe nails grew significantly faster.

it also seems that whenever im not running for a few weeks at a time, they grow faster as well.
