So my buddies charger went out, and we started looking online. I suggested we look on Amazon.com for cheaper/generic styles. We were surprised to see nearly all of the items were reviewed at 3 1/2 or less. I checked the Apple.com website later and found the same thing. Why is this? How the hell does a charger from one of the "best" computer companies out there (that also costs $85) have such poor ratings and reviews? |
| why are you asking me? |

If you actually wanted to know why the device received poor reviews, you would have simply read the reviews posted on Amazon, since people actually provide an explanation for their review right there on the page. So what's your actual reason for asking about this on here instead of just reading the reviews? |

almost all chargers get sucky reviews. http://www.amazon.com/b?ie=UTF8&node=11041841 This HP charger is interesting. $6.50 new free shipping, $45 used, $0.69 plus $5.99 shipping. 2.5 stars and nearly 400 reviews. http://www.amazon.com/Replacement-Adapter-Laptop-Charger-Pavilion/dp/B0026LQZP0/ref=sr_1_5?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1336708058&sr=1-5 |

It's the wire that runs from the power supply to the computer. It tends to fray at its source. I always reinforce the wire at this point with electrical tape or duct tape. I never roll up the charger wires. It lasts longer. |

Supposedly Apple spent $1 million to develop an power supply back in the day. http://www.cultofmac.com/1019/apples-1-million-power-supply/ |

Especially do not bend the section closest to the capacitor. Leave an inch or so of "play" before wrapping it up (Sometimes I do need to roll up the wires to get it to fit or keep it from getting everywhere in bags and such). |
