Topical lacquer applied daily (ciclopirox, or Penlac) has about a 30% success rate. Need to apply for about a year. Oral itraconazole 200 mg daily for 3 months has about a 60% success rate. Can be rough on the liver, so drinking alcohol not advised. In either case, you can get it again. If it's not bothering you much, perfectly fine to leave it alone. Both are prescription only. Over the counter creams/liquids generally do nothing. |

Super glue. Shuts down the breathability of the fngus n the nail, and is a whole lot cheaper than presciptions, just as effective. |

I used the generic version of lamisil pill for about 30 days. It was working beautifully on my toenails, but then I broke out in hives that itched like you would not believe and had to stop taking it. |

Vick's vapor rub. Apply on nail and wrap with some surgical tape or a band aid. Make sure you continue doing that even when it starts looking better cause it will come back. |

Pure lanolin - Ebay. Clean socks every day, and after you run. Nylon socks are better because they don't hold in moisture like cotton. Alternate shoes. Don't wear the same shoes for everyday activities that you do for running. |

Yes! Vicks works & it has zero side effects & is cheap. You have to apply faithfully morning & night. But the oral medications some recommend have to be taken for a long time & can have serious side effects like loss of sense of smell etc. Do the Vicks, man! |

VIcks contains menthol and camphor, which will both help with topical tinea infections but the infection is under the nail bed. +1 to the person who suggested itraconazole. Also keep in mind it may be embedded in your shoes so reinfection is likely. |

I heard WD40 kills it but might kill your nail too. Also white vinegar. |

I had that for years, finally took 3 months of Lamisil (doctor prescribed me for 4) and it pretty much cleared it up...I probably should have taken the 4th month, but years later there's been no reoccurrence. I had tried tea tree oil, Vick's...that stuff didn't do it for me. |
