What happened to these guys: Michael Cybulski, Eric Avila, Travis Kuhlman, Andrew Pilavjian, Josh Linen, Ryan Gamboa, Hudson Andrews, Mikel Thomas. These guys were at the top of all the lists and in front of all the races in high school but what happened to them? I'm just curious because I used to hear about them a lot (being from california and also being in the high school class of 2007 with them). Anybody know if they've done much in college? I know how some other guys are doing like Cory Primm, Ryan Martin, Brendan Gregg, the Knight twins, etc. but I've just been wondering if these other high school greats did anything in college. |

Eric Avila went to NAU, but never ran a race for them. I believe he red-shirted the first year, but after that went to London with his friends or something like that and never returned to running. I think he lost his love for running and dedicated his time to pursuing other things he was interested in like traveling. Not sure if he transfered out later and ran somewhere else, but I don't think he did. He just left the sport all together. Too bad, great talent. |

Several of them went off to college to run some respectable times. Here is what I found on their team websites: Travis Kulhman (Long Beach State): 8K- 24:32 Andrew Pilavjian (UC Santa Barbara): 8k- 24:10 Josh Linen (Chico State): 5k- 14:42 Ryan Gamboa (Notre Dame): 1500- 3:51, Steeple- 9:08 Mikel Thomas (U. of Nebraska) : 5k- 14:39, Steeple- 8:58 Michael Cybulski (UCLA): ? Eric Avila (NAU): ? Hudson Andrews (Princeton): ? |

Didnt CYBULSKI date the hurdler who transferred from UCLA to Oregon? Maybe they have a nice cottage together in San Francisco and cheering on obama support for them |

Refering to Eric Avila. He just started running again this spring after transfering to Southern Oregon University last fall. Having rekindled his love for running again. He is a huge talent! I know he was a low mileage kid in high school, around 40 miles a week. I talked to a buddy of mine with ties to the Mesa junior college team, I know NAIA has different rules regarding age requirements. It looks like hes a freshman, I wonder about his degree progress though. dcba25, what meet did you see him at?? |

Andrew Pilavjian ran 9:05 in the Steeple to place 2nd at the Big West Conference Championships, just behind fellow teammate and (also) former high school class of 2007 member Anthony Masci who ran 9:02 |
