Keep that in mind when politicians want to sell your roads and bridges and other public works by claiming that private enterprise will be so much more efficient than government. This is true when there is competition among private businesses, but not when they are awarded 20 year contracts, and the original owners that made the promises have cashed out and are long gone. Put 2 privately owned toll roads side by side and then you will see efficiency. Of course that is not feasible - it is just to illustrate the point. |

What kind of institution expels or fires people by email? Forget the mistake of sending the email to everyone when they were only trying to send it to a group of 100 students. The really trashy thing is that they were trying to send it to 100 students in the first place. Email has its uses. Termination is not one of them. |

So getting a letter makes it any easier? Face it, email is the primary mode of communication these days. Saves time and money. Yes, if the system had kicked out 25000 paper letters someone would have noticed (at least one hopes). |
