Good or bad, that's what they say.
Good or bad, that's what they say.
That's because they can't stand criticism.
LR board known as the idiot board by the running elite?
Is that it?
No indication of just who these ‘running elite’ are - or when, where and how they all got together to come out with this particular piece of information.
I have met, run, trained with many who were most definitely running elite and found for the vast majority of them, the only difference between them and the rest of the running fraternity was a natural physical ability to run faster.
Nothing at all to do with their IQ or quantity of brain cells.
Many had little interest in any aspect of athletics, other than their own particular event.
That ignorance has been exposed also by our broadcaster, the BBC, employing many, (one assumes the most articulate) ex-international athletes to comment on major events.
I often watch the major events with a group of enthusiasts from my local athletic club and not only does some of the comments these ‘experts’ come out with, result in us falling about with laughter, our own observations of the various events are considerably more cerebral and insightful than those of the ‘running elite.’
For what it's worth... During my running experience, I've trained with exactly 1 US runner that has competed at the IAAF World Championships & the Olympics. He was a complete tool and his ego was gigantic. If this is the "elite" then good for him. I am supremely confident nobody who ever trains under him will accomplish anything. (He's contributed nothing so far in terms tutoring new talent...). And he has trained with college teams since his "glory" days but it has nothing to improve the athletes he has trained with.
Just because a runner has reached "elite" status doesn't mean they have some magical knowledge that made them better than everyone else. Perhaps they just had great talent and good coaching. Other than that, I couldn't care less what they think. This board is for runners at all levels, it really makes no difference how fast you have run. It doesn't mean you have the ability help others run fast.
I hope the "elies" realize that no one in the country follows them more closely or cares more about how they do than the "idiots" on this board.
So far the reaction of several posters indicates that they have serious inferiority complexes. Relax guys, it ain't no big thing.
I also hope that at some point some of the posters realize that we'd probably get more from the elites (maybe even more of them coming back to the board) if they stopped acting like idiots.
Has anyone noticed he says we're known as the idiot board among "Running Elite" while his name is "Running Elite"? We're getting trolled.

^This. The "idiots" here at Letsrun are a big part of the reason these elite runners get paid to do what they love.
What an idiotic thread to start.
Elites know about the leftists on here.
Are you by any chance talking about a dude that goes by the name of Alan Webb.
Nah, I'd say this place pretty much has naturally selected for morons, know it alls, busy bodys, bs artists, and complete wannabes.

Most of the so called elites would be unknowns if it wasn't for the idiots on this board.
They should want to be bashed on this board more. That way at least someone is paying attention to them.
Hmmm. I'm sorry but for me too many questions are left unanswered.
Who are these running elite you pretend to anonymously speak for?
What did they really say, and in which context? When and where? Is there any link or reference to substantiate these anonymously alleged hearsay conclusions?
Which running elite said what, and how many more simply said nothing?
Was there a consensus among running elites? Was there an opinion poll? Which percentage believes what, and what were they asked, in which context? Was the opinion poll representative of the complete running elite population? How was that controlled or measured?
What does "Idiot board" even mean?
Is there a genius board somewhere else? What is the better alternative? Where do the running elite discuss with geniuses?
Are the running elite also the intellectual elite?
How can we put these allegations in perspective with reality?
Thanks for any more inside information you can provide me about the unsubstantiated opinions of the running elite.
NEWS FLASH: ALERT, ALERT, ALERTS
Movie Stars consider bloggers as idiots.
Politicians consider consider bloggers as idiots.
Sports stars consider ESPN posters as idiots.
Hmmm, there is a trend here. People in the public eye consider anyone who criticizes them to be idiots.
Yet, those same people are starved for attention. They want to be in the public eye. They want to play on the big stage.
Criticism comes with the territory. You get kudos. You get criticized. Just like in the real world.
It's known as the idiot board by people with jobs and a life
The one Olympic runner I've known was even worse than this (basically a thief, but charitably an "opportunist").
What was Ovett's quote- "Winning an Olympic medal doesn't mean you're not an idiot. I've known a few" or words to that effect.....
unfortunately we're all they got
