Hello, I would just like to know what would be a proper mileage progression from around 60 to 100. I understand that it takes time to work up to this kind of mileage but in general what is the smartest way to work up to this. I have ran 70-75 mpw conistently before but Im back at 60 as of right now. I am a mileage person, as in I mean I progress very well off of mileage alone. I am no means a "talented" runner. I have to work my ass off just to be where I am as we speak.I have poor leg speed so I must rely on a higher mileage with workouts to hang in with faster runners in distance races.
I am a university runner now on summer break so I would like to get a strong base for cross country season.
Alternatively you could stay at the same mpw for a few weeks, then do a bigger jump. This way you'll be sure you're ready for more work or if you're in over your head just maintaining your mileage. Theoretically.
