Aphex Twin Helios Tycho Hammock Explosions in the Sky ... Here are a few songs I've been listening to a lot lately: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wzvfsJq5pLE http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yj55nG2tkKw http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aN72qU65byo I like to just walk around the park at night and listen to this stuff. Does that make me weird? Does anyone else like this sort of music? Any other band/artist suggestions? |

basically semi-ambient techno stuff? Check out: Autechre, Biosphere, Vladislav Delay, Future Sound of London, Tetsue Inoe If you want some older ambient type techno check out Brian Eno. Try the album ambient IV: On Land. If you want to go back even further in time check out Kraftwerk If you want some stuff with vocals check out Boards of Canada, Everything But the Girl, Mazzy star If you want stuff with a bit more dance/pop that is still ambient technoey in the background check out Luomo. Maybe New Order. Gustav Mahler Das Lied von der Erde if you want classical in the same vein That's probably enough to tide you over for the time being |

If you like Explosions in the Sky you should also have a listen to Godspeed You Black Emperor, Mogwai, Sigur Ros, Grails, Mono. As SomeWeirdSin mentioned, definately check out Brian Eno. He has plenty of awesome material. His collaboration with David Byrne, My Life In The Bush Of Ghosts is fantastic. There's a lot of really good stuff out there if you like this kinda thing. |

If you are trying to cultivate a "weird" image, this can probably help. If, on the other hand, you just like this music, who the hell cares what other people think? |

this sort of genre is more commonly called "post-rock." |

haha, not really. I just don't know anyone else who ever listens to this stuff and was kind of wondering if that's more because it's not mainstream or because people don't actually enjoy listening to this sort of stuff. Thanks for all the recommendations. |

I can and frequently do listen to Explosions in the Sky for hours on end. To me, there's nothing better. Going to their show in Charlottesville in June! |
