It could be a big deal. When I was recovering from an Achilles injury, socks were created just enough extra pressure that it made things worse. When I didn't wear socks I was in a lot less pain. To the OP, while you are building up your callouses try avoiding running through puddles. You'll get some blisters but not for very long. Feet callous quickly. |

I have not worn underwear for years. I like to wear very tightly fitting shorts, and it is now quite rare that I get blisters, canckers, or rubbed raw. It may be necessary for your johnson to build up callouses in the typical blister, canker, rubbed raw areas. Go without underwear during your next easy run, and then wait until any blisters, cankers, rubbed raw areas to heal up before doing it again. It should not take too long until your johnson becomes tough enough. |

I hate socks. the only ones i can stomach are injinji if you can't live with a few blisters every now and then, then wear socks. it's a trade off. |

Water is also a solvent. Does this mean I have to refrain from swimming?[/quote] Right. You should definitely not swim in vaseline. |

thanks guys, i guess ill just stop being a panzy and let my feet bleed and sting. i also just realized i forgot t mention im a forefoot striker.. think that could make it worse... and whoever suggested nylon or wool sucks...im am not going to go by a 15 dollar pair of socks so i can either A: wash then everyday to run with or B: buy 20 pair so i can be completely flipping broke. |

I/ve run 12 Marathons and numerous half Marathons, 10-ks, 10 milers etc sockless, and never a blister!..On new shoes I lube my feet with vaseline or body glide for the first 50 miles or so to break the shoe in and have it conform to my foot. After that I've never had a blister problem. I'm 5 foot 10 inches , 170 pounds and only wear Asics. Hope this helps. |

Nylon socks are quite inexpensive. You can find them at Walmart. |

To run without socks the shoes have to fit right. Use a dash of baby powder in each shoe. Make sure that it coats the inside of the shoe evenly, and put a little bit of hand cream or vaseline on your feet. Again, make sure to apply it evenly and especially between your toes. If you get a blister on the achilles, then cut a notch with a pair of scissors at the offending point on the shoe. |

We always used to run warm up laps on the track or grass in bare feet. It dries out and toughens your feet. Basically you are getting blisters because your feet aren't callus enough. If you toughen them up you should be able to avoid blisters. |

Just wear really thin ones. I used to wear ones that weren't really designed for running. |
