Any good running clubs in eastern Queens (NY)? 5/5/2012 10:02PM Reply | Return to Index | Report Post
I am looking for a running club or a running group that meets up in the early evening (around 6pm) in eastern Queens? Any exist? I am looking to start doing some speed/intervals on track. Even a quality long run of around 15 miles. I could be wrong but there doesn't seem to be that many runners interested in semi-serious hobby jogging in my area. I see some joggers and walkers but that is about it.

Near Cunningham Park theres a running store called "Quantum Athletics", I don't think its a club but I think they meet around 6 or possibly later for runs. Also, many high school kids run in Cunningham as the summer rolls along.

I ran Tuesday workouts with Alley Pond people while back (many years ago, probably 15 yrs) at Queens CC track but I need something little more structured and faster. I've seen Quantam shoe store people run also this Spring but they don't seem to be doing speed. I live in the area. I run in Cunningham park quite a bit but I don't see any serious runners there.

I need something more serious like the club North Brooklyn Runners. From their webpage, that would a good group for me but getting there is really hard with all the traffic on BQE during evenings.

I just need some faster people to help me with pacing. I am getting so old and I have not done any serious training involving intervals in over 20 years. I feel like time is running out for me so I need to get on the program quick. I want to start off with like 6min/mile repeats and hopefully work it down to faster times over the summer.
