I thought Bolt was stretching it out too much tonight.

I was looking forward to seeing his form from the relay anchor last year, but he didn't show it. I thought the added musculature was geared toward effecting that new, better style.

I think he was trying a bit too hard to put up a good time. I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't lose too much weight, but became more crisp in his form, and used his core more.

The way sprint training usually works is a significant focus on increasing the strength base early in the season and a few basic and regular track and improvements to specific areas of the race.

Then there's the focus on speed and fine-tuning technique, speed, turnover and the like in which time athletes tend to slim down quite significantly though they usually maintain the strength base quite well.

The second period usually coincides with a bit of slimming down, just in time for peaking at the big meets :)

Blake finishing in 19.91. Looked like he felt something towards the end.

Like I said before, hope he doesn't go out there, push too hard and blow something out. Looks like Usain's experience might have helped him here.

Video of Blake 19.91..

As with Bolt, Blake looks like he's coming off the back of a massive couple of weeks in the weight room >_<

Neither is looking as flexible, light on their feet or "fast" in their movements as they usually are.

Early season yet but if they've gotten their strength base in and it looks like they have the rest of the world should be worried.

Dix is going to HATE Blake this season.

Absolutely! I saw that in Blake's 9.90 It looked like he toughed-it-out rather than cruising it.

If they can translate this kind of base, however...ouch.

In view of this 19.91, Spearmon is looking interesting.

Oh, and Dix ALREADY hates Blake!

Check out how well Frater was moving...if he improves like he should, he could PR this year, and end up mid-high 9.8x

He matched Bolt's top speed in this race, but couldn't match Bolt's acceleration from 30-60m.

Nice job, he made Clarke look like a chump, not to mention Thompson.

Bolt's start and early acceleration looked really good to me.

I like Jamaican commenting as well. They seem much more knowledgable about the athletes rather the USA commenting, where you're pretty sure they're looking up random athletes on pieces of paper.

I heard the weather was perfect this winter to produce a bumper crop of the highest quality yams.

Thank god it happened in an Olympic year, they're not the same without the correct quantities of yam and sunshine.

Jamaican Brigitte Foster Hilton, the 2009 world champion who struggled in 2011, appeared to have regained her form in the 100 hurdles, winning in 12.51 seconds.

The time was just 0.02 behind the world leading performance of 12.49 by current world champion Sally Pearson of Australia.

37 year old sprinter suddenly returns to form. Yup that isn't supspicious at all.
