Trying to predict 400-800 times for former 100-200 girl 5/4/2012 11:36PM Reply | Return to Index | Report Post
I have a girl who has run the 100 and 200 for 3 1/2 seasons. She has run 13.1 and 26.3 in each event respectively. For endurance training, I threw her in a 4x4 at the end of a meet we were winning and she ran a 60.02. I realize that it was a relay split but she received the baton in the lead and won by 6 seconds. She ran 31-30 for her 200 splits and finished without straining. After this, I took up the task of training her for the 400. I think she can go 59.0 if pushed as she is mostly uncontested in our area. I put her in her first workout with my 400-800 boys and she ran 300,300,600,300,300 (it was hot and humid if it matters). She's never run and interval farther than 200. Her splits were (I told her to take the first half easy and negative split) 60,59,1:58,49,53. I'm throwing her in a 600 tomorrow to see more of what she's capable. II've had boys run very similar times in this workout and they are 58 400 and 2:18-2:20 800 runners.

My question is what do you guys think she can run an 800 in right now and what is your prediction for tomorrow's 600?

Ill start, I think she can go 1:35-1:40 tomorrow and possibly run 2:25 in the 800. She has done 0 distance runs and her only endurance work has been my workout and 400 races.

I think you should be happy with a <1:45 tomorrow. I would say with no endurance to plan on her being a 2:30 girl. How much season is left? I bet with a couple strength workouts now she could probably get down clover to 58-2:25.
