Americans are so rights minded and faithful to it's Bill of Rights, thus soldiers and police can quit on short notice with no penalty. Witness the Secret Service treachery in Columbia. Americans can betray the President and retire to the beaches of Hawaii while in virtually every other nation they would lose pension and serve prison time if lucky. If not they would be executed along with their wife(wives), parents and children. |

Thanks to the previous Labour (socialist) government, millions of Muslim immigrants have been allowed to settle here in Britain with no intention of integrating with British society and culture. Our security forces spend most of their time disrupting planned terrorist attacks on this country by our Muslim youth. (A warning to America regarding Muslim immigration) I fear the London Olympics is providing an almost irresistible target for them to impress their fellow terrorists in the rest of the world. A test of their manhood as it were. And judging by our recent hysterical overreaction to just minor incidents, (compared to our incompetence during our one major atrocity, 7/7) - it will only need a trivial terrorist incident in the run-up top the Games to turn them into an Olympics remembered more for the high level of officious, interfering and overbearing security, rather than the sporting activities. |

I think you will find that Muslims have no problem slaughtering each other in Muslim countries. One of our paratroopers who served in Afghanistan was recently court-marshalled for simply striking a Taliban prisoner who tried to escape. The complainant never turned up to testify - he was off back fighting for the Taliban again! I agree, we should never have gone near Iraq or Afghanistan - the West these days fight wars with one hand tied behind our backs. Hitler’s SS would have gone through Afghanistan and left it a wilderness. |

That simply isn't true. In a conventional war where there isn't so much emphasis on protecting the civilians and infrastructure, the SS, US, or UK would have blown through that country. The problem was that we didn't know who our enemy was when we were there. It could have been the guy working at the market while we were just walking by. We couldn't do anything about it unless he acted first. The SS wouldn't have cared and just slaughtered or imprisoned anyone they had any suspicion about. The US hasn't truly won a war since "conventional" warfare was abandoned. It is tough to defeat a nation without destroying its infrastructure or imprisoning its populace. You have to do something to cripple it. I'm not saying that this new concept is wrong and certainly don't advocate the slaughtering or imprisoning of civilians, I'm simply saying that it is a very very different type of war from the past when carpet bombing and leveling towns was acceptable. |

The Soviets did do that in Afghanistan, and they still lost. The Soviets were, among other things, dropping land mines disguised to look like toys from planes. The purpose of this was to kill and maim as many children as possible. |
