Huge effort without any track work, in her first race since 2007 and she's 39 years old. It was great to see her back on the track. Her Olympic dream in the 10K is very much still alive!!

Her turnover looked better than ever to my eye. Nice work, Deena!
Track work ain't gonna make much of difference. Good effort though.
Track work will a little difference, and in a 10K, a small improvement like five seconds is the difference between having the Olympic Games A standard and not having it. She came up four seconds short, but looked better than ever!
Good Luck Deena!!!
Huge run for her tonight....Let's celebrate that such a amazing person for our sport continues to pursue her dreams.
Damm...31:49 for 10k at 39 years of age.
Her OT marathon time predicted about a 31:59 10K. She was 10 seconds faster than that, so she is doing fine on rebuilding track speed. With about 8 weeks until track trials she has plenty of time for speed work.

nice, and I am happy for her...but she still gets lapped in the 10k with that time.
But good progression, I understand.
I will admit that I was rooting for her to do well, but I think even objectively she looked great.I've got to think with some specific track work she can knock some time off of that. If she can make the team then she will have time to prep for london - exciting stuff for her.

Wow!!! Way to show excitement. Do we ever wonder why there aren't more fans of our sport? Those who follow it cannot enjoy a good performance without adding some bonehead commentary on why is really sucked and isn't very notable. For crying out loud!!! Deena hasn't run on the track since 2007 and instead of throwing props and kudos, you have to dig for all the reasons it wasn't worthy of notice.
(bitchy whiny voice) ..,"but she still gets lapped in the 10k with that time." Would that be the first time an athlete from the USA got lapped in a 10k? Does it really matter? If she makes the team should we arbitrarily eliminate her because she hasn't proven she can stay on the lap number of the lead runners?
What the hell does it take to be excited for a runner who is out doing their best to follow their passion for the sport and dreams of Olympic success? Should we disparage you for your piss-ant 47:00+ 10k performance because you couldn't hang with the leaders who ran 31:30 in a local 10K road race? Anyway, work on your own life and improve yourself so we don't have to listen to your diarrhea-of-the-mouth regarding others who should be celebrated for their value and representation of everything positive about the sport.
Deena needs to run a 2nd 2012 marathon to prove to everyone she can't break 2:30:00 twice.
Any predictions for Deena in the 5K at Oxy tonight? I say 15:12.
15:25
17:22.45
15:20.8
Deena didn't make the marathon team. That's all that matters.

Who the hell is Whom and why does he care if Deena goes to the Olympics in an event besides the marathon.

Of all of the stupid typical comments on this board, I'd say this type is the worst.

Yeah it sucks when people want to support the sport. What is this guy thinking?
