That was an incredible thing to see live. I've met Torrence and Lopez, and they are both really good guys. I'm just glad that David came in under the A standard after all of the chaos that ensued out there. Even with the miscount, that is probably one hell of a PR. One has to think that if Lopez can run that fast while jogging the curve after celebrating across the faux finish, that he can run close to or even under 13 min right now. He is going to be a beast at the Trials 5k, assuming he runs it. Rupp, Tegenkamp, Solinsky, Lomong, Jager...I can't wait to watch that race. |

To be fair, he split 56/63, not 56/59, he ran 56 for a finish line split (at 4.6k) and then 59 for a start line split (4.8k) His last 800m was right around 2:00 or 1:59. |

Even if Solinsky's out, in the Trials 5K you could have: Lagat (WC Gold and 2 Silvers, 12:53, 3:33 still) Rupp (WC finalist, 26:48, 13:06) Teg (4th in 2007 WC, 12:58, 7:34, 3:34) Lomong (13:11, 3:32) Bumbalough (13:16, 3:37) Torrence (13:16, 3:34) Derrick (27:31, 13:19) I figure Jager will go Steeple, best chance for him to make Olympics. |

He must have dropped like a 1:21 600 in ther before his finish, he was flying. We'd need some more detailed splits to really know. |

How did he miss the big scoreboard right near the finish that said 12:05??????? Did he really think he shattered the WR by that much?? Kudos for finishing so strong after stopping and for the nice albeit early kick. |

I figure that: Teg and Derrick will go after the 10,000m (Rupp a shoe in) Torrence will go after the 1500m (Centro a shoe in and Manzano in BTW: where has Centro been lately) Bumbalough will try the 5,000m and hope for the best...
