|Off to a good start|
Being an avid runner, I mostly run alone at my convenience. All you serious runners (not according to Runner's World) know what I mean. Early mornings, evenings, whenever....
One day, a non-running friend asked me to coach them towards a 5K goal. I was more than happy to help a friend. I'd run my regular run & then head over to the local track to log 3 more walk/run miles with them. It was tremendously encouraging to use my running for more than myself. We ended up doing more & more laps running until they could finally run the 5K distance without walking. Although the pace was slow (11:00 min/mile), the reward of seeing a friend reach their goal was awesome.
