A day before my regional meet, last Tuesday, I strained my hamstring pretty bad . I ran thru it and made it to States in both the 400 and the 4x400, which is Saturday. As a precaution, I didn't run Thursday, Friday or Saturday to rest. Today, I went to the track to go jog but it has been raining bad all day and now I'm forced to stay inside and run tomorrow. Will 4 days straight without running affect my fitness level or performance ? Will I still be able to be in peak shape by Saturday ? |

For a non-aerobic race like the 400 you'll be fine, except your legs might be a little stiff the first day or two. Even for a longer distance event 4 days wouldn't really hurt your fitness at all. But what state is having their championship next Saturday already?! |

I am a 4/8 runner so I dont have a 200 time . 150s in practice are around 16s. And I'm black. |

Haha. You should be alright as long as your hamstring is actually healed and you can run fine on it. You aren't going to lose any fitness in 4 days, but you will probably feel sore/kinda weird the first couple days back this week. You should be ready to roll by the weekend, though. Good luck. |

You should be fine. the main problem would be your mentality going into the race. You cant be thinking "mann ive missed 4 days of running, im going to be slow." you have the same physical fitness as before. but your mentality can make your body think its not in the right shape. Dont let this affect you! Good luck |

agree with the last couple posters. You might be a little more stiff than usual for a day or two just getting back on the track, but you won't have lost any real fitness. The biggest issue is to just remember that you'll be fine, and now that you're (hopefully) a little healthier you can probably run even a little faster than before. Good luck! |
