Despite his 3:57 leg and getting run down by Leo at Penn today. Bernard Lagat is still the greatest AMERICAN distance runner.

Frank Shorter is the best American distance runner ever.
Look at Mills! LOOK AT MILLS! Ahahahaha!
Frank Shorter and Jim Ryun are greater than Bernard 'epo cheat' Lagat.

I just took an enormous dump. Discuss.
I agree that Bernard Lagat like him or hate him is the GOAT among American distance runners. Bernard Lagat has amassed more Olympic and World Championship medals in 4 1/2 years of actually representing the U.S then any other American has their entire career. BERNARD LAGAT is definitely the G.O.A.T distanc runner.

Nice word - nary!
Is Lagat really an American distance runner, or is he a Kenyan who runs in America. If you can't be president because of your nationality, you shouldn't be considered American. That is not to say you shouldn't be able to run for America if you are a citizen.
How many other athletes who were born outside of U.S that became U.S citizens and the masses accepted them? Is it because Bernard Lagat is now an AFRICAN-American that he recieves such disdain?
can we say that wrote:

American: noun - Citizen of the United States of America. see Bernard Lagat
Not the GOAT:
No Olympic gold.
No world record.
Ran his best races while running for Kenya.
An EPO positive test.

huh?
Anyway, Lagat is American. It should be a source of pride that Kenya's greatest middle-distance runner chose to study, live, and train in our country and compete in our uniform. No matter how many Sois, Kipchoges, Songkoks, Ngenys, Kiplagats, et al Kenya has produced, none of them has the long, consistently brilliant career as OUR Kip!
Not to mention that he seems to be the COOLEST GUY EVER! I can't think of one runner from any country that I would rather hang out with.

The following American athletes are ineligible to be President of the United States:
Galen Rupp
Ryan Hall
Shannon Rowbury
Alan Webb
Dathan Ritzenhein
Maggie Vessey
Jenny Simpson
Chris Derrick
etc.

That's correct - they are under 35.
But seriously, Shorter is the American GOAT.
I'd take Kannouchi before Lagat in the naturalized Americans category. No medals but he achieved all of his success as an American immigrant. Morroco gave him nothing but his parents.
Frank Shorter was born with Germany citizenship and is in the same boat as Bernard Lagat as he too became a U.S citizen like Lagat. I'm certain Bernard doesn't care what the lot of you think about his citizenship and nor do the record books LOL!
Lagat with his 9 major championship medals all in a uniform branding U.S.A is the GOAT!

I'm a Lagat fan and consider him a "true American", but Shorter is a bad analogy. He is not a naturalized citizen, as he was born to US-citizen parents. You do not have to be born in the USA to be a citizen from birth - it is only one of the ways.
Thanks CC
Can anyone name a US athlete who have won more WORLD or OLYMPIC medals combined as a middle or distance runner for American then Bernard Lagat?
