His argument against cross country is the exact reason why I love it. It is so brutally simple that it puts all the competitors to the test in the same way to see who is better. What is more simple than a race on foot? When we were kids we would have races "to that tree and back" or "around the neighborhood." He also says that he doesn't like how good athletes waste away all their muscle to run cross country. Those athletes made a decision to be good at cross country and made a sacrifice for training in order to be as fast as they can. Who is he to decide what is best for an individual? |
