What in the world are people on this talking about. IT has two of the best college runners in the history of track and field. Cam Levins and Chris Derrick That alone is enough to make this interesting. It has puskedra who has always been a solid cross country runner but has yet to make his mark in track. If people who comment on these boards follows track they would be curious to see what puskedra is up to after his blistering half marathon. Sam Chelenga the greatest college runner by pr. (until lawi beats all of his records) Simon Bairu is also another person not to take likely. (There are others worth mentioning but I don't want to take up to much space. Those who need a sub 27:00 10k in order to get aroused should take their prozac. This is college and the college barrier is 28:00 not 27:00. Again those who know anything about running are excited about this stacked field to see if some college guys can get under 28min and possibly even challenge the collegiate record. This field is capable of doing just that. |

Who will win this?! A lot of people will be factors but who will take the whole thing? Levins, Derrick, Nelson, Birmingham, Cragg, McNeill, Bairu, True, Bauhs, Chelanga, Estrada, Romero, Braun, Goucher, Vaughn, Gotcher... I think Cragg will make a strong push near the end. Levins or Derrick will take it. My bet's on Derrick. This is going to be good. |

Solid field, but it isn't stacked. You don't have to be awesome at basketball to know the Bobcats suck. |

For a lot of guys wanting to run their respective 10k Olympic trials this is their last chance to do a 10k before then. For some guys this may even be their Olympic trials. Think of the Olympic 10k as a 3 round event. This is the first round. Next round is the national Olympic trial. Last round is the Olympics. |

Levins is a Canuck, a B.C. boy. I think "A" standard for him and Bairu and Ahmed is 27:45. |

I thought the same thing. I want to see how Derrick does. As long as Chelanga is Kenyan he's second tier. Cam Levins surprised at Mt. Sac. Now I'll read the rest of the thread to see who people think this is stacked with. |

People are severely underestimating McNeill right now. The kid caught Levins and Lalang at Mt SAC that last lap... |

Didn't Ben True beat Chelanga last week? |

Sure did (might of been 2 weeks ago)! |

Well, if Derrick and Levins (and, for an outside shot, Estrada and Puskedra) go for Chelanga's collegiate record of 27:08.49 that he set two years ago at this meet, that would be pretty damn exciting. I'm doubtful that's quite within any of their capabilities just yet, but would love to see them go for it. |

Looks like a second tier quality field. Lots of very good runners, no world beaters. Nobody in the field can come close to sub 27:00 I don't think. Am I misinformed? |

The most incredible yearly meet in the Western Hemisphere is on hiatus now due to the recession. I hope USATF can re-start the meet soon. The Home Depot meets had the most loaded field next to Olys & Worlds with an Oly & World medalist in nearly every lane of the sprints and hurdles races. It was logistically cheap since most of the medalists who were entered live a few minutes down the freeway from Compton. |

Big chance for Collis Birmingham to get the AR, Cragg will run well- says he just wants 27:44.99 though. Chelanga, Levins, and True will also be up there. Winning time- 27:16. |

Does Harry wear the Vibrams on the track? I'm assuming he's sponsored by them. |

Nor has anyone whose run this meet ever. In terms of PR's, this race is more "stacked" than it was two years ago. |

Yeah, Cragg should take this. Of course, it all depends on which Alistair shows up. |

Including McNeill himself- he had no intention of running as fast as he did.
