I AM NOT A LAWYER. Was it on company grounds? I would guess that it is ok. Lots of things get recorded without "consent" Think about it. And it's been shown in court that when at work, you can hardly expect any privacy at all. The reason they do it is maybe to save their butt and protect you in case there are any claim that there was discrimination in hiring. I can't see how it's any different than passing around your resume. I worked in a place where everything was recorded. It bothered me, but then I thought if I just always do a good job, it could be used to my advantage. |

Yes on company grounds. The other day ny boss asked me to go through his notes (all recorded and online from a smart pen) and look for info from a a couple years back. I found my interview as well as all the other applicants interviews on the computer. I did not know I was recorded until then. I started to listen to my interview but decided I sounded like an idiot during it and turned it off. I'm just wondering if this was standard hiring procedure. |

Why would it be illegal? It's not like they are trying to admit it as evidence in court. It's common for businesses to record daily business matters. |

If they have evidence to build a case against you, you're screwed. The idea is to not have any evidence that can be tied directly too you, like an ambiguous looking glove or bloody knife. |
