What a bunch of morons. That's all I have to say. Makau should come to the US. |

I don't know. Call Ethiopia and Brazil and ask them how they did it in 1988 and 2000. |

Well, the deal was they were going to use the spring marathons to assess current fitness. Makau dropped out with an injury. That is pretty understandable, given the stated criteria. |

How the hell do you not realize that there's already a half dozen threads on this subject today? |

Would you choose the American mile record holder to represent the US in the 1500? |

Once less potential threat for Ryan to have to compete against. |

I am not so worried about Patrick as Geoffrey. Leaving Mutai out is a little bit reckless in my opinion. I hope this doesn't come to pass but Ethiopia could take it. They have; 1. Ayele Abshiro 2. Dino Sefir 3. Yemane Adhane 4. Getu Feleke 5. Markos Genetih 6. Tadese Tola 7. Tsegaye Kebede 8. Gebre Egzhieber Gebremariam Ethiopia has three good teams and 3 or even 4 unknown guys so to speak. I still think Geoffrey should have been picked instead of Mosop but then again, I could be wrong and I hope I am. I'd love to hear the wise words of Dr. Renato Canova regarding this selection. Also, should Florence have been selected ahead of Priscah Jeptoo? I believe we are very okay with regard to the women all the same. |

He's the world record holder... alright? The Olympic marathon course is not an exceptionally fast course due to the multiple turns and such. The world record should belong to Kipsang or Makau, but most likely Kipsang. Frankfurt had a lot of turns, and he didn't have a phalanx of pacemakers shielding him from wind most of the race, nor did he have any serious competition (aka Geb, who has run 2:03:59 and was Makau for a while). Mutai should have been selected, he's done well at tough courses like Boston and NY, and he's a good tactician. |
